Getting to Know WR Jeremy Kerley

Jeremy Kerley was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 draft out of TCU.

Kerley was born in Austin, TX and has a tattoo of the state on his back.

In high school, Kerley was a track athlete, specializing in the triple jump event. He was also recruited to play baseball by Stanford and the University of Texas.

He was converted to a receiver and return specialist while at TCU after playing QB in college.

His senior season at TCU, Kerley was a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award, which recognizes the most versatile player in the nation.

Kerley has a career average of 10.3 yards/punt return. He has one return touchdown which occurred against the Bills on opening day in 2012.

Kerley has shown his versatility during his NFL career, sporting a 109.7 passer rating (2-for-3 for 83 yards) and 14 rushes for 84 yards.

During the last two seasons, Kerley lead the Jets in receptions and receiving yards.

Kerley has picked up 91 first downs in his career, which averages to about two first downs/game. Last season, Kerley had 43 receptions for 30 first downs.

After signing a 4-year contract extension on Tuesday, Kerley said free agency was never an option: "I thought that this is the place I call home, so I've been feeling good since I've been here. To get the deal done here, it's a great thing for me and my family, like I said. I didn't really think about free agency. It was just how I felt."
