53 Man Roster: The Offense
See Who Made The Team: Your 2014 New York Jets 53 Man Roster

C Dalton Freeman, a Clemson product, drew praise from head coach Rex Ryan for his play in the preseason finale against Philadelphia on Thursday night. He's expected to become Nick Mangold's backup.Â

C Nick Mangold has been an ironman of sorts for the Jets, missing only two games in his eight previous seasons. He earned a Pro Bowl berth last season for his play.Â

In this pass-happy league, fullbacks are often overlooked or underutilized. Jets FB Tommy Bohanon made the most out of his 28 touches last season, picking up first downs on eight of them. Bohanon knows his job is to create holes for other running backs, and he's happy to do that: "I think my favorite part is helping the running back get his yards and open up holes and be able to do a little bit of everything on offense."

G Brian Winters seemed to lock down the left guard sport after rotating guard spots with fellow 2013 draftee Oday Aboushi. Winters has brought a newfound physicality to the offensive line during the preseason.

Oday Aboushi is arguably the most versatile offensive lineman on the roster as he can play as a tackle or a guard. He spent much of training camp as a guard.Â

Willie Colon started the season on the Active/PUP list, but was quickly removed after offseason surgeries on his biceps and knee. He didn't miss a beat and has looked fresh at the right guard spot.Â

Fourth-round draft pick Dakota "Bull" Dozier went through some expected growing pains during training camp, but has rebounded. He's since looked more confident playing on the line.Â

Embracing his role as a mentor to the other quarterbacks, Michael Vick has showed he still has some gas left in the tank. The 34-year-old quarterback looked fluid in and out of the pocket, competing 60 percent of his passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns He also had eight scrambles for 41 yards during the preseason.Â

The ever-so-bruising RB Chris Ivory showcased his classic form during the preseason, making one cut and looking to run someone over. He ran for 67 yards on 13 touches, good for 5.2 yards a pop.Â

Coming off offseason knee surgery, many considered RB Chris Johnson to be done as a running back. That was not the case at all as the former Titan led the Green & White with 107 rushing yards and added six catches for 52 yards.Â

The third man in what has to potential to be a fearsome three-headed monster out of the backfield is RB Bilal Powell. He isn't flashy, but uses his versatility to get the job done. He ran only seven times during the preseason, but made all of them count on his way to 49 yards and one touchdown.Â

D'Brickashaw Ferguson hasn't missed a game since entering the league in 2006 as the No. 4 overall pick. He's been a consistent anchor on the Jets offensive line and will look to continue doing so in 2014.Â

Breno Giacomini, the starting right tackle, was signed during the offseason and joins the Green & White after a Super Bowl run with Seattle. He and Willie Colon, right guard, are referred to as the "Bash Brothers" of the offensive line.

Ben Ijalana, a tackle out of Villanova, is listed on the depth chart as Ferguson's backup. Ijalana was beat off the line a few times during the preseason opener against the Colts, but has settled down since.Â

Jace Amaro, the team's second-round draft pick, hold the NCAA record for most receiving yards by a tight end. He came from a spread offense in college and had to work on his run blocking during camp. He's made great strides and caught his first pro TD against the Giants. He led the team with eight receptions in the preseason.Â

Jeff Cumberland had a tough preseason. His uncle passed away, forcing him to miss the first day of camp and a sore Achilles has forced him to miss some time as camp drew to a close. The tight end is looking to be ready to go when the Jets play the Raiders Week One.Â

TE Zach Sudfeld, or "Sasquatch" as he's referred to by Rex Ryan, has given Jets' QBs a nice target down the middle of the field. At 6'7" and 260 pounds, he's not easy to bring down. Sudfeld is also deceptively quick after the catch.Â

WR Eric Decker joined the Jets after signing with the team through free agency and brought with him crisp route-running ability. He's a big, sure-handed target for Geno Smith and the two developed great chemistry during training camp.Â

WR Quincy Enunwa's start to training camp was hindered after suffering a hip injury. He made up for his missed time, giving the Jets another big target(6'2", 225 pounds).

Saalim Hakim is one of the fastest guys in the league. He acted as the primary kick returner against Philadelphia on Thursday and is likely to hold on to that job to start the regular season.Â

Jeremy Kerley had perhaps the quietest preseason of all Jets starts. Entering his fourth-year, Kerley is the longest tenured Jets wide receiver entering the 2014 season.Â

David Nelson joined the Jets on Oct. 2 of last season. In 12 games he caught 36 passes for 423 yards and two touchdowns. He helped Smith's progression, giving the rookie quarterback a big third down option in the passing game.Â

WR Greg Salas was signed off the Eagles practice squad midway through the 2013 season and helped the Jets overcome injury woes at the wide receiver position. With the Jets he caught eight passes for 143 yards, 57 of which came in his debut—a 26-20 win over New Orleans.Â

Jalen Saunders' primary role as a Jet will be as a punt returner, where he'll be able to display his quick feet and blazing speed. He missed two weeks of the preseason after suffering a seizure that caused his one-car accident on Aug. 15.
