The Jets have added another target for QB Sam Darnold, solidifying the slot position with the signing of Jamison Crowder.
A fourth-round pick of the Redskins in the 2015 NFL Draft, Crowder played four seasons in Washington and totaled 221 receptions for 2,628 yards. He averaged 11.9 yards a catch and amassed 15 touchdowns (including one punt return score) from 2015-18.
Limited to nine games last season due to an ankle injury, the 5’9”, 177-pound Crowder had 29 receptions for 388 yards. But during his first three pro campaigns, the Duke product averaged 64 catches, 747 receiving yards and four scores.
From 2015-18, Crowder had the eighth-best YAC average (5.7) among all 74 qualifying NFL wide receivers, according to 360.sportradar.com.
While new Jets head coach Adam Gase praised both Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa at the NFL Combine, the Green & White needed to add a slot receiver to the mix. Enter Crowder, who also has returned 86 punts in his career for an average of 7.9 yards.
