■ At Battle Creek–Ida Grove HS, recorded 202.5 tackles, rushed for 1,389 yards on 238 carries (5.8 avg.) and 14 TDs and had 39.0-yard punting average during career.

OFF-THE-FIELD

■ Grew up a fan of 49ers and idolized Jerry Rice and Steve Young even though his father, Carl, was a huge Chiefs fan.

■ Hobbies include hunting and fishing, and would one day like to own or work at a hunting lodge.
