Jeff Weeks
Assistant Defensive Coach

◊ Jeff Weeks returns for his second season as a defensive assistant - defensive line/linebackers, his fifth season overall on the Jets coaching staff.

◊ Last season, Weeks assisted defensive line coach Karl Dunbar and since-departed linebackers coach Brian VanGorder (Defensive Coordinator, Notre Dame) in career years for several defensive players. Defensive linemen Muhammad Wilkerson and Damon Harrison both registered career numbers, while first-round draft choice Sheldon Richardson garnered NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Linebacker Calvin Pace registered a ca­reer-best 10.0 sacks, while second-year linebacker Quinton Coples made the transition from defensive end to outside linebacker last season and led the team with 50 quarterback hurries.

◊ In his second season (2010) on the Jets staff, Weeks worked under former assistant head coach/linebackers coach Bob Sutton with the specific task of tutoring the outside linebackers on their assignments and techniques.

◊ Weeks originally joined the Jets in 2009 and helped the team advance to the AFC championship game. Initially a defensive assistant, he focused on the de­fensive line for the second half of the season. During that period, the defense limited teams to 82.0 yards rushing a game (fifth-best in the NFL) after allow­ing 111.6 rushing yards a game during the season’s first nine games. Also in 2009, Weeks coached defensive lineman Shaun Ellis, who was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career.

◊ He served as a defensive assistant during the 2008 season with the Raiders.

◊ Weeks coached with Rex Ryan in college at Morehead State (1990-91) and at Oklahoma (1998). He also coaching collegiately at Texas A&M-Kingsville (2005-06), Southeastern Oklahoma State (2005), Trinity Valley (Texas) CC (2000-04), Fort Scott (Kansas) CC (1999), Glendale (Arizona) CC (1997) and Phoenix (Arizona) CC (1996).
