In BUF, Vrable spent the first three seasons as offensive quality control coach before being promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach. He assumed the role of interim running backs coach following Anthony Lynn’s promotion to offensive coordinator in Week Three. Since Week Three, BUF running backs Mike Gillislee (5.71) and LeSean McCoy (5.67) led all qualifying NFL runners in rushing average as the pair also accounted for 23 total touchdowns as part of a BUF offense that finished first in the league in rushing yards per game.

Prior to entering the NFL coaching ranks, Vrable spent two seasons at Syracuse, first working as an assistant to the wide receivers coach and then as an assistant to the quarterbacks coach. Following his time with the Orange, Vrable spent two seasons at the Univeristy of Charleston as the school’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, as the school led its conference in total offense and rushing offense.
