◊ Brian Smith currently serves as the Quality Control/Defense coach, where he works closely with defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
◊ Smith originally joined the Jets in 2007 as a Quality Control/Offense Coach after seven seasons with the University of Massachusetts, where he was an Assistant Coach for three years.
◊ He coached the wide receivers his last two seasons at UMASS after working with the linebackers in 2004.
NY CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
◊ Smith was a three-year starter for the Minutemen as a strong safety and cornerback from 1997-2000, totaling 214 career solo tackles, 306 total tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 23 pass breakups and eight interceptions...Team captain and All-Atlantic 10, All-New England and All-ECAC as a senior.
◊ Three-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 and Academic All-District selection, while being named to the Division I-AA Athletic Directors Academic All-Star team twice..Smith was a starter on 1998 team which won the national championship.
