Anthony Lynn
Assistant Head Coach/Running Backs

Added the title of assistant head coach after serving as the running back coach since 2009.

Since Lynn joined the Jets (2009), New York has tallied the fourth-most rushing yards (8,718) in the NFL. In three of his four seasons with the team, Lynn has helped a back set a single-season career-high in rushing yards: Shonn Greene (1,054 in 2011 and 1,062 in 2012) and Thomas Jones (1,402 in 2009).

Greene’s 1,062-yard rushing performance in 2012 marked the eight time in Lynn’s 10 seasons as a running backs coach that one of his players produced more than 1,000 yards on the ground.

Lynn’s 2010 group finished fourth in the NFL in rushing with 2,374 yards and was led by LaDainian Tomlinson (219-914-6) and Greene (185-766-2). It marked the second time in club history that two runners finished with more than 750 rushing yards in the same season. The only other season the Jets accomplished this was in 1979 when Clark Gaines recorded 905 yards and Scott Dierking finished with 767 yards.

With his knowledge of zone-blocking schemes, Lynn helped the Jets switch running schemes in 2009. The change helped the Jets average a league-leading 172.3 rushing yards per game. Under the direction of Lynn, Jones recorded the best statistical season of his career, with 1,402 yards and 14 TD on 331 carries. His 14 TD set a Jets single-season record. He also directed Greene to an NFL postseason-leading 304 yards and two touchdowns on 54 carriers. Greene also recorded the two longest runs in Jets postseason history (53 yards and 39 yards), both touchdowns.

Lynn came to the Jets after spending the previous six years as a running backs coach with the Browns (2007-08), Cowboys (2005- 06) and Jaguars (2003-04).

In Cleveland, he worked with Jamal Lewis and helped him produce back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. In 2007, Lewis rushed for 1,304 yards despite only playing in 14 games.

At Dallas, he oversaw the emergence of Julius Jones and Marion Barber III. At Jacksonville, Fred Taylor recorded two of the top four rushing seasons in Jaguars history.

Began his coaching career with the Denver Broncos as an offensive assistant and assistant special teams coach (2000-02).

Lynn ran for 1,911 yards and 17 touchdowns on 481 carries at Texas Tech. He earned All-SWC honors.

OFF THE FIELD

Lynn played high school football at Celina HS in Texas. The school has produced more wins than any other program in Texas.

Two children: D’Anton (22 - participated in the Jets 2012 training camp after signing as an undrafted free agent defensive back (05/04/12), and daughter, Danielle (19).
