Michael is a native of Louisa, KY, and played quarterback at Western Kentucky from 1999-2002, guiding the Hilltoppers to the NCAA Division I-AA national championship in 2002. Michael broke into the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee, where he assisted the defensive staff. Michael then moved on to the Oakland Raiders in 2005, where he served as a video assistant and offensive quality control coach.
