■ Mike Bloomgren was promoted to offensive assistant after two years as quality control coach on the offensive side of the ball.

■ He joined the Jets after serving as the offensive coordinator at Delta State University (Mississippi) where the Statesmen passed for over 7,500 yards in two seasons and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2006.

■ Before Delta State, Bloomgren held the role of co-offensive coordinator at Catawba College (North Carolina) and led the Indians to the South Atlantic Conference championship in 2003 and to the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2002 and 2004.

■ While at the University of Alabama, Bloomgren worked under Mike Dubose as a defensive graduate assistant and under Dennis Franchione as a graduate assistant on the offensive line when the Crimson Tide won the SEC in 1999.

■ He started his coaching career as an undergraduate assistant under Bobby Bowden at Florida State University, where the Seminoles claimed two ACC championships.

■ Prior to his coaching career, the Tallahassee, FL, native played tight end at Culver-Stockton College.

OFF THE FIELD

■ In 1999, Bloomgren graduated magna cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Florida State.

■ In 2001, he earned his master's in higher education at Alabama.

■ He is married to the former Lara Parr and they have a 2-year old son, Tyler.
