"Strongest arm in pro football." That's what Weeb Ewbank says of Dick Wood, the guy who calls the shot for the Jets on the field. And Ewbank - who coached the likes of Otto Graham and Johnny Unitas - should know. Wood is now in his second season with the Jets and only injury prevented his inaugural campaign from being a great one. With three games left, Dick was the No. 1 passer in the AFL. But he was sidelined with a knee injury and finished the year in the third spot after having missed the last three games. Knee injuries are nothing new to Wood; in fact, Dick's had five operations on his knees since his junior year in high school. A native of Lanett, Ala., Dick attended Auburn and saw service with Denver and San Diego before joining the Jets.
