Vince Turner may have become the property of the Jets because he had a sprained ankle. A ninth-round draft selection of the Baltimore Colts of the NFL, Turner suffered an ankle sprain in the pre-season camp and his development there was retarded severely. As a result, the Colts released him and he was signed by the Jets as a free agent. Once he recovered fully from the ankle injury, Vince worked his way into the defensive backfield picture as a swing man who will be slated to plug the holes created by injury and substitution problems. Rated as a sure-handed tackler by the defensive coaches, Vince played a good defense while in college at the University of Missouri. In addition to serving as a spare in the defensive secondary, Turner will see service on the Jets' specialty teams for returning punts and kickoffs. The 21- year old, 190-pound Turner was recently married and lives in Chillicothe, Missouri.
