It's rare indeed when a rookie is counted on to play an important part in the defensive secondary. Yet, the Jets' coaching staff thinks so highly of Stricker that he is accorded an excellent chance of gaining a first string berth on the defensive squad. Stricker is a hard-nosed individual who impressed the Jets with his aggressiveness and desire to make the squad. Tony has good speed, and in his eagerness to learn a new position, quickly adjusted to playing defense. He is a good tackler and picks up his man well in the secondary. At the University of Colorado, Stricker operated as a flanker for three years. He played on the Big 8 championship squad in 1961 and derived his biggest thrill by playing in the 1962 Orange Bowl. Stricker is completing his studies for an engineering degree.
