There was a bit of significance attached to the signing of Jim Price as a free agent just before the American Football League kicked off its 1963 season. When Weeb Ewbank took over the reins of the New York Jets last spring, the club had failed to sign any of the draft choices designated by the previous ownership. Jim Price was one of those choices. He was drafted in the sixth round by New York but decided to report to the Dallas Cowboysof the National Football League who also selected him. Price finally got to New York, signing with the Jets after being released by the Cowboys, to become the first andonly draft choice signed by New York. Price has good potential and is highly regarded by the coaching staff. A hard worker, he is very strong and is a sure blocker.
