The Jets didn't have to go far to Iand big Charlie Janerette. As soon as he was released by the New York Giants, the Jets signed Janerette as a free agent. In Janerette, the Jets secured an established player. He has good speed and is a hard nosed player who likes contact. He is considered by the coaching staff as one of the best linemen on the squad because of his know-how as well as his ability. Janerette was drafted in the fifth round in 1960 by the Los Angeles Rams. He made the club as a rookie but saw little service. He was sent to the Minnesota Vikings from where the Giants secured him for the '61 campaign. Janerette shared the offensive tackle spot with Greg Larson, but because of his quick shifting ability the Jets will use him on defense. He is a native of Philadelphia.
