Gordy Holz joined the Jets between seasons as part of the nine-player trade with the Denver Broncos which was the largest deal in the AFL history. Gordy has earned a slot as defensive tackle on the Jets' front four and has materially strengthened the team for defense against a running game. Holz played his college ball at Minnesota and then spent two years in the service where he was named to the all-sea service team in 1956-57. He began his pro career with Sarnia in the Canadian League and joined the Broncos in 1960. Holz teamed with Bud Mc-Faddin (now at Houston) to form the original defensive tackles for the Broncos. Gordy has a droll sense of humor and often Iightens the load during the tense moments with a humorous remark. Holz classes fishing as his favorite recreation.
