Ken Gregory - #84 - E - Whittier - Profile

Gregory is another of a number of players on the Jets' roster that learned their professional football under veteran head coach Weeb Ewbank. He was drafted from little Whittier College by the Baltimore Colts for the 1961 campaign. Although he didn't see much action with the Colts, he clinched a spot on the roster on the basis of catching three passes for 153 yards in the pre-season finale against the New York Giants. Gregory was an outstanding pass receiver at Whittier where he led the nation's collegians in 1960 with 74 receptions that accounted for a total 1,018 yards. He has good hands and has the knack for breaking into the clear. Actually, the Jets inked Gregory to a contract as a free agent. He was with the Eagles when the 1963 pre-season drills began.
