To say that Johnny Green came out of nowhere to rank as the AFL's No. 5- passer in '62 would be putting it mildly. Secured from Buffalo, along with Billy Atkins for AI Dorow, Green was almost written off last year. He was placed on waivers after the club's second game, but was restored to the roster for the seventh game when injuries depleted the quarterback corps. He took right over and completed 13 of 25 against Dallas far 190 yards. Green finished the year by hitting 128 out of 258, a percentage of 49.6 for 1,741 yards and 10 touchdowns. Green works well with the squad and takes charge of a situation. The big quarterback spent his first season of pro ball with Toronto in '59. The next two years he was the Bills' No. I quarterback. Green resides with his wife, Janice, in Chattanooga.
