Ames was discharged from the National Guard shortly before the Titans opened training camp. At Richmond University he lettered in football for four years as a halfback. Dave was a first team All-Southern Conference and honorable mention All-American selection, and in addition he set several scoring and rushing records at Richmond. A sociology major in college, Dave is undecided about his off-season occupation. He is married and makes his home in Portsmouth, Va.
