• Their daughter, Shayla, at the age of 3 months in 1999, fought for her life in the intensive care unit of a Kansas City hospital while undergoing two surgeries to repair heart defects. After spending several months at Children’s Mercy Hospital in ‘99, she has been healthy and her prognosis is good. Shayla was featured on a CBS special that announced the Phil Simms All-Iron Team in 2002, a squad that included her father.
