CAREER TRANSACTIONS

Selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft with the 76th overall selection. The selection was obtained from PHI in exchange for the Jets’ pick in the third round (#71-DE Chris Gocong-Cal Poly). The Jets also obtained the seventh round selection from PHI, #220 (DL Titus Adams-Nebraska).

COLLEGIATE CAREER

Was an emotional leader of one of the best linebacker units in college football while at OSU.

Averaged 6.9 tackles per game during his Ohio State career and 7.1 per game during his tenure at Air Force.

For his entire collegiate career, Schlegel started 38-of-47 games, recording 330 tackles (167 solos) with 8.5 sacks for minus-54 yards and 31.5 stops for losses of 130 yards. He had two FR, one FF, one INT and had eight PD.

In 24 games with the Buckeyes, Schlegel started 19 times. He registered 166 tackles (87 solos) with 5.5 sacks for minus-29 yards and 17.5 stops for losses of 67 yards. He also deflected three passes and recovered a fumble. In 23 games at Air Force, he posted 164 tackles (80 solos), three sacks, 14 stops for minus-63 yards and five pass breakups with an interception.

He originally enrolled at the Air Force Academy, but transferred to Ohio State after his sophomore season and sat out the 2003 campaign.

He served as team co-captain during his sophomore season for the Air Force Academy in 2002.

HIGH SCHOOL

Schlegel lettered four years in wrestling and three in football at Highland Park High School.

He was a two-time All-District selection in football, adding third-team All-State and All-Area.

He was the AAU and state heavyweight champion in wrestling as a junior and was the runner-up as a senior at the state meet.

Schlegel then attended a year of prep school at the Air Force Academy, where he played football and was the team's Defensive Player of the Year.

OFF-THE-FIELD

Graduated with a degree in consumer affairs, with a minor in business and finance.

Was married (wife, Stephanie) on Valentine's Day of 2004.
