New York City - The New York Jets and 1050 ESPN Radio today announced the extension of their unique broadcast partnership. The announcement was made by Jets’ Vice President Broadcasting & Production, Bob Parente, and President and General Manager of 1050 ESPN Radio Tim McCarthy.
After three successful seasons on 1050 ESPN and 77 WABC Radio the Jets announced today that the partnership will continue for an additional two years through the 2008 season.
New York Jets broadcasters Bob Wischusen, Marty Lyons, Greg Buttle, Don LaGreca and Larry Hardesty are regarded as one of the premiere teams in the National Football League. In addition to flagship 1050 ESPN Radio, Jets football play-by-play can be heard on 77 WABC, and six network stations from West Virginia to Albany, New York.
“Our partnership with one of the premiere sports brands, ESPN Radio, makes great business sense for the Jets and allows us the opportunity to be on two 50,000 watt radio stations,” Parente said. “By extending our agreement for two more seasons, Jets fans know they will receive the best coverage of their team on ESPN Radio all week long and especially on game day.”
McCarthy said, “We are pleased to make this announcement at a time when we’re as excited as Jets fans are by the team’s great start this season. We feel our business partnership with a first class organization like the Jets, and our game broadcasts and quality ancillary Jets programming, combine to serve listeners with first-class coverage of their team.”
The partnership will continue with the Jets producing and selling the game advertising through a joint venture with 1050 ESPN Radio’s Programming and Sales teams.
In addition to Jets play-by-play, 1050 ESPN Radio airs the two-hour Jets Game Day pre-game show, the Jets Fifth Quarter post-game show, and the Coach Eric Mangini Report with host Stephen A. Smith (Wednesdays at 1 p.m.).
1050 ESPN Radio is managed by ESPN, Inc. and is the home of Mike & Mike in the Morning (M-F 6-10 a.m.), The Max Kellerman Show (10 a.m.-noon), The Stephen A Smith Show (noon-2 p.m.), The Dan Patrick Show (2-4 p.m.), The Michael Kay Show (4-7p.m.) and the Brandon Tierney Show (7-10 p.m.)
