Q. Tom, you guys still have a division lead, you still have a good record but what is concerning to you about the last couple of weeks?

TB: What is concerning? Well, we are just not playing up to kind of our level of ability. But you know, it is tough. It is tough. Losing is tough. It is a tough league. I mean every week is tough. But we have to move on and be ready to go next week.

Q. How would you assess your own performance?

TB: I have to see the film.

Q. A lot of pressure on the interception, you had two guys in your face. Did you throw a little bit above them, trying to find (Kevin) Faulk, but they pressured you a lot. Was that the biggest factor offensively, dealing with the pressure?

TB: Well, they certainly pressured us a lot. Like I said, I have got to see…you've got to see the film and see what kind of decisions you make back there. We've just got to play better. I mean Coach [Bill Belichick] always says to us it's just undisciplined football. It is penalties and turnovers. There has just been too much of that. You have got to eliminate that type of stuff. I mean it's hard enough to move it when you are not shooting yourself in the foot. But we just did a little too much of that today.

Q. The film notwithstanding, do you have a read or an indicator on how you felt your performance was today?

TB: Well, I think, like everybody, we played hard, we played hard today. There is nobody giving up in there. We fought until the last whistle and they made a few plays on us. And we thought at times we moved the ball pretty well, we didn't play as well as we would have liked. And it is just one of those tough days. Field conditions were poor, throwing a muddy ball. But even with that, I thought sometimes we made pretty good plays out there. The guys made some great catches. Reche (Caldwell) played great. It is obvious he is really coming along. Like I said, just too many mistakes. So we are going to ‑‑ I think one thing I have learned is everything you get in this league, you have got to earn. I mean this team has got to earn it. We have to go out and earn it in practice and earn it when you go out there and play. We have got to play a lot better. If we play better, I think everyone feels confident we are going to win.

Q. Big picture, I know it is mid season but big picture, how do you think you guys are right now?

TB: I think there's a lot of football to play, seven games to play. So we'll just try to come back tomorrow and make some improvements and see what we did wrong. And you know, we are 6-3. And I mean it’s not a terrible record. It’s not what we would like to be, but we are still ahead in the division and we would like to stay that way. So we have to try to go out and beat Green Bay next week.

Q. Tom, you guys hadn't lost two games in a row for four years.

TB: Yes.

Q. Is that tough?

TB: I just think when you don't play well, you don't win. So it is obvious that the past performance doesn't do anything for this team. What matters is how we go out and play and how we go out and execute. And when we execute well, we are pretty good. When we don't execute the way we are capable, we look like a very average team. I give credit to that other team. I mean the Jets defense, I think, played very well. I mean they were bringing it, they were bringing it, bringing the heat. So, we try to stand in there and make the plays. Some guys made some tough catches, just not enough. I think early on we had the ball down there on the two yard line once, one yard line another time. If that is two touchdowns, we win the game. That is the difference.

Q. Is it a strange feeling knowing that three losses all happened out on that field? That doesn't happen very often.

TB: No, it hasn't. But like I said, we just haven't played like we are capable out on that field. I wish we certainly played better. Even the two games we won, we didn't play particularly well. So we haven't had much of a home field advantage so to speak at this stage.

Q. This is the time of year in November where good teams take steps forward. Do you feel right now that this team is taking steps forward?

TB: Like I said, we go out and try to compete hard. It doesn't always go perfect for us. Like I said, it's tough. It's tough out there. It’s always tough. We're still putting it together. We are not…we have a great football team. I mean if you’re great, you are 9-0. So we are 6-3 and we are trying to be a great team, and we will go out and try to play much better next week. The nice part is we get to line up and go play next week and hopefully we go and play a lot better.

Q. How surprising is the opportunity typically today coming out of this, do you feel really jacked up coming off of Minnesota or were there cautious feelings like that?

TB: Well, I think we thought that we were, everyone thought we were making a bunch of improvements. Everyone thought we were heading in the right direction. Last week against the Colts was tough. We certainly didn't play anywhere near our level of ability in that game and today it was just a tough day all around. There were a few plays we could have made, but that's the difference. You could say that every week. So you are judged week to week. We didn't play well last week, we didn't play well, as well as we could this week. We have to play better next week. The other good part, it really doesn't carry over. Each week doesn't carry over. So we have to line up and play a lot better next week, so knowing that we are capable of playing better and we have played better. So I mean are we a beaten football team, I don't think so. I just think we lost a few very tough games for this team and we have got to find a way to get back on top of a winning track.

Q. You still had a chance late today and last week, are you surprised when you guys don't come through because you have done that so many times?

TB: Well, we always like to come through at the end. It just didn't happen. It just didn't happen. I tried to get the ball out of bounds there the last play. They ended up coming to us before I got the ball off. So hopefully, we are not in that situation but we kind of put ourselves in that situation.

Q. Another tipped ball this week just didn't go your way. What was your vantage point on that play to Reche (Caldwell)?

TB: The guy jumped up, tipped it up in the air, Reche came back and fought really hard, made a great play. It was good to see.

Q. Was it good to see one of those tips go your way?

TB: Yes. Oh, man, as soon as that ball went up in the air, I can't say what I was thinking, I saw Reche come down with it, he really made a great play. We scored there in what, 30 seconds. That is what we like to do. We like to do that once in a while.

Q. How difficult were the conditions today?

TB: I mean it’s a muddy field. I mean the ball is muddy and the footing is tough. It is the same for both teams so, like I said, at times we moved the ball pretty well, we just couldn't get it in the end zone. We couldn't do as well as we would have liked on third down. You would love it to be 80 and sunny every time, but that is not the way it is in Foxborough. It got cold out there, you know, you get wet and you get muddy and it starts getting cold, but I guess we are used to that.

Q. Eric (Mangini) knows you pretty well. Anything happen during the game that came to your attention? Did their defense do things to make you think he knows what you like to do?

TB: Yeah, it’s the same defense we run. It’s the same calls. It’s all that same stuff. We were expecting pressure all week and that is what we got. Like I said, they were bringing it. They weren't afraid to bring it this week. When you make plays against the pressure it tends to ease it off a little bit. But we just didn't make enough plays against it, so we just kept coming up and kept coming up and, I don't know, just fell short.

Q. Did you ever feel comfortable yourself with their pressure? It just seemed like the early going, like you said, it kept coming. Did you ever feel comfortable back there?

TB: I just try to stand there as long as I can and make the throws. You finally get one and one outside, you try to give your receiver a chance to make the play. Those guys made plenty of plays today. It’s just I think they made a few plays, just not enough, especially in the red zone, a ball and two, a ball and one, trying to move it. You can't kick field goals, especially on a day like this when field conditions are tough and it’s tough to establish drives. When you get down you have to score.
