Transcript of interviews with selected Jets players during the locker room media period before Tuesday's afternoon practice:

LB ERIC BARTON

On adjusting to the 3-4 defense …

It takes a while to get used to doing certain things. For my whole life, I've played in the 4-3. I've had to change the way I play and the technique. It takes a while to learn, but it is an honest challenge and still is a challenge. I have learned it as well as I could have.

On recording a sack and interception in the same series against Washington…

I didn’t even realize that it was the same series until after the game when somebody told it to me. It was fun. Coach made a great adjustment to put me in position to make a sack. On the interception, the D-line got great pressure to cause him to throw an erratic pass. I was able to catch the ball and give my team a chance to score.

On the run defense …

We just have to get better, play better technique and play more consistently. There are times when we stop the run for one, two or three quarters. We are just inconsistent right now and we need to fix that.

S Kerry Rhodes

On what the team plans to accomplish this week …

We are looking to go over everything that has been bad. We are going to try and get as much corrected over these two days and get two good practices in, get those practices out of the way and get away from football for a little while. It’s a culmination of things, trying to get the things fixed that we can and also trying to get away from it.

On fourth-quarter struggles …

It’s a unique situation every game. It's not that we are doing this wrong in each game, it is an inconsistent thing. It is pretty hard to put a finger on it. Different people can look at it in different ways. It is not good.

On whether he will think about football during his four days off …

I try to tune it out. Being a perfectionist, it's tough because I’m going to see football and be around football. It's going to be in the back of my mind. For the most part, I’m trying to get away from it completely. I don’t want to think about all the bad stuff that has happened or even the plays we did make. I’m going to try and come back refreshed.
