Played for Browns as 3rd-Round Rookie Last Year; CB LeQuan Lewis Released

The Jets today have acquired CB Leon McFadden on waivers from Cleveland and released CB LeQuan Lewis.

McFadden (5'10", 190) was the Browns' third-round choice (68th overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft out of San Diego State. As a rookie last season he played in all 16 games for the Browns, starting two. He had 15 tackles on defense, four tackles on special teams, and one pass defensed.

This preseason he added 12 total tackles, playing in new head coach Mike Pettine's system, which of course is similar to the defense he coached under head coach Rex Ryan with the Jets.

In college, McFadden played 51 games over four seasons for SDSU and compiled eight interceptions, 47 PDs, 3.0 sacks and 188 tackles.

Lewis was signed as a free agent on Aug. 12 while the Jets were at their Cortland training camp. He had an end zone interception to stop a Philadelphia drive in the final preseason game on Thursday.
