EA Q&A: Week 3 Live Video Chat

Posted Sep 17, 2013

New York Jets Insider Eric Allen will answer your questions each week live during a weekly Q&A on Tuesday's at 1:00pm. We enter unchartered waters today as the EA Q&A goes live for the first time. Login through Facebook, Twitter or you can sign-up on www.spreecast.com to chat about the season to date and look ahead to the Jets vs. Bills Week 3 clash.

The Jets and the Bills will meet Sunday at MetLife Stadium in a divisional matchup of 1-1 clubs.  Rookie signal callers Geno Smith and E.J. Manuel will lead both respective offenses and the latter will have to contend with Jets Nation for the first time.

Defensively the Green & White have been stingy, ranking 2nd in yardage allowed (241 yards per game) and tied for 3rd in points allowed (15 per contest).  Their improved rush defense faces its stiffest test yet in the explosive C.J. Spiller, a back who amassed 169 yards on the ground at the Met last September and also got free for a 66-yard receiving TD in a December contest in Western New York.  Stevie Johnson remains a talented threat on the outside and the Jets may elect to throw a lot of Antonio Cromartie No. 13’s way.  Rex Ryan hasn’t decided who will line up across from Cromartie as Dee Milliner was benched against the Pats and Darrin Walls or Kyle Wilson could be in line for the start.

The Bills rank 30th against the run (141.5 Yards per outing) and the Jets got things moving in Week 2 with Chris Ivory as the 6’0”, 222-pounder averaged 4.3 yards per attempt against the Pats.  Mike Pettine, a longtime apprentice under Ryan, is moving Mario Williams around more and the Bills DE is coming off a 4.5 sack effort against the Carolina Panthers.  Right tackle Austin Howard kept Williams quiet in 2012 and the Jets want to give Geno Smith a clean pocket this weekend.

For the first time in NFL history, 22 games were decided by 7 points or less the first two weeks.  Both the Jets and the Bills have played a pair of nailbiters as New York’s AFC representative escaped with an 18-17 win over the Bucs in Week 1 and dropped a 13-10 decision to the Patriots in Week 2 while the Bills watched the Pats come back late to secure a 23-21 victory in Week 1 and then Manuel had some fourth quarter heroics of his own last Sunday as the Bills pulled out a 24-23 Week 2 triumph over the Carolina Panthers.
