The Jets are committed to have an open competition for the starting quarterback position. But SportsNet New York’s Adam Schein is reporting that the Green & White may have to start OTAs with four quarterbacks instead of five.
Twitter was abuzz this afternoon when @AdamSchein typed the following: Text from Garrard: "Having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do."
The 35-year-old Garrard, who missed the 2011 and 2012 seasons following back and knee surgeries respectively, was excited for a chance to start with his new team.
“I just want to show what I can do what I can do,” he said during a recent open locker room session. “And what I can do — I know has been pretty good in the past. Hopefully I can be back at that same level and stay healthy. With that I just want to leave the chips out there. If they like, they like it. If they don’t, they don’t.”
