After Tasting Defeat for the First Time, Jets Ready to Move On

They Said It
Late in Sunday’s 24-17 loss to the Eagles, the Jets had a chance to seize momentum. David Harris forced a Ryan Mathews fumble and fellow inside linebacker Demario Davis recovered at the Eagles’ 41. But three plays later, Ryan Fitzpatrick’s short pass was deflected and then intercepted by OLB Jordan Hicks. “We thought we had a shot then, but then to turn it right back over, it just kind of dashes hope a little bit,” said head coach Todd Bowles. For more locker room quotes, let’s go to Sound Bites.

A Beginning
With both Chris Owusu and Eric Decker out of the lineup, rookie WR Devin Smith made his pro debut Sunday. The Ohio State product, a Round 2 selection in last spring’s draft, was targeted nine times and finished with three receptions for 39 yards. We caught up with Smith on JTL Postgame:

Lost the Recipe
For the first time in the Todd Bowles era, the Jets came up short in the turnover department as they finished -3 overall. But they’re looking forward to turning the page.

Balance Out of Whack
Playing catch-up meant Ryan Fitzpatrick put the ball in the air close to 60 times. The defense though kept the Jets in the ball game as @rlangejets notes – holding the Birds to just 52 total yards and 15 passing yards in the second half.

We see you Jets Nation. MetLife Stadium was packed Sunday and the white towels were everywhere. Some images to remember:
