Forté, Winters Active for Jets vs. Saints Today

Posted Dec 17, 2017

Green & White Will Need a Top Road Effort to Topple New Orleans in the Superdome This Afternoon

The Jets will try to turn their 2017 road trends around in a stern test against the Saints in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this afternoon. And they will do it with RB Matt Forté and G Brian Winters in uniform — both were listed as questionable with injuries — and without DL Muhammad Wilkerson, who head coach Todd Bowles said Friday would be deactivated for the game.

The Green & White, 5-8 overall, are 1-5 in away games this season. The Saints, meanwhile, are on a five-game home winning streak. They've lost two of their last three but both losses, to the Rams and Falcons, were on the road.

The Jets have won three of five games all-time in the Superdome and hold a 4-2 mark over teams Drew Brees has started for, including a 26-20 home win in 2013 over New Orleans in the teams' last meeting. But Brees is operating at peak efficiency this season, ranked high in many NFL passing categories, and the Jets will need their A-game to take him and the Saints down in the Dome today.

The Jets' seven-player inactive list for the Saints:
■ CB Derrick Jones
■ CB Jeremy Clark
■ RB Akeem Judd
■ LB Freddie Bishop
■ T Ben Ijalana
■ OL Jonotthan Harrison
■ DL Muhammad Wilkerson

Bowles' captains for the game are Forté, rookie RB Elijah McGuire, CB Morris Claiborne and S Jamal Adams.

The Jets are wearing their white jerseys and white pants today. It's only the second time this season and the fifth time under Bowles that the Jets are wearing white/white. They have won two of the previous four games — at Buffalo on Thursday Night Football in 2016 and against Jacksonville at home this season.

Ron Torbert is the referee. This will be Torbert's fourth Jets game as referee since 2014.
