The New York Jets have waived wide receiver Patrick Turner. They also have signed linebacker
Turner (6'5", 220) entered the NFL as a third-round selection by Miami in 2009. He was claimed by the Jets on Sept. 5, 2010, after being waived by the Dolphins the day before. In two seasons with the Jets, Turner played in 20 games and caught 10 passes for 122 yards and one touchdown.
Sapp (6'4", 252) was a fifth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2010 who missed that season after being placed on injured reserve on Aug. 31, 2010. Sapp signed to the Jets practice squad on Oct. 31, 2011, and was added to the active roster before the final regular-season game on Dec. 29. He joined the Jets practice squad after being waived following the final preseason game on Aug. 31, then was released from the practice squad on Sept. 5 before his return.
Lewis (5'11", 187) joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Tennessee on July 29, 2011, and participated in the Titans' training camp before being waived Sept. 2. He signed with Oakland on May 14 as a free agent, then was waived by the Raiders a month later. Lewis joined the Jets on Aug. 15 and was waived after their final preseason game before being signed to their practice squad on Sept. 4.
