Jets Get WR Braylon Edwards on Waivers

Posted Dec 11, 2012

The Jets have been awarded wide receiver Braylon Edwards off of waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

Edwards rejoins the Jets and quarterback Mark Sanchez, with whom he played for 28 regular-season games and six playoff games (32 starts in all) in the 2009 and '10 seasons.

For the Jets, Edwards caught 88 regular-season passes for 1,445 yards (16.4 avg.) and 11 touchdowns. He also had 15 more receptions for 320 yards (21.3 avg.). Those figures included an 80-yard touchdown play with Sanchez in the '09 AFC Championship Game at Indianapolis and, in the '10 postseason, the 18-yard reception to set up Nick Folk's walkoff 32-yard field goal in the AFC Wild Card Game at Indy, followed by a 15-yard TD reception in the 28-21 AFC Divisional Round win at New England.

For his career — four seasons plus four games with Cleveland, two seasons with the Jets, '11 with San Francisco and this year with Seattle — Edwards has 349 receptions for 5,397 yards (15.5 yards/catch) and 40 TDs.
