Jets Announce Roster, Practice Squad Moves

Posted Sep 1, 2012

The New York Jets have claimed nose tackle Isaako Aaitui and wide receiver Edmond "Clyde" Gates from Miami and tight end Konrad Reuland from San Francisco and have waived safety Antonio Allen, defensive tackle Marcus Dixon and tight end Dedrick Epps. The team has also signed seven players to their practice squad. The announcements were made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

AWARDED ON WAIVERS

Aaitui (6'4", 315) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Miami on Oct. 4, 2011, as a member of the Dolphins practice squad, where he spent the final 13 weeks of the season. He spent this past training camp with the Dolphins prior to being waived on Friday.

Gates (5'11", 197), a former fourth-round draft pick by Miami in 2011, caught two passes last season for 19 yards and returned 34 kickoffs for 843 yards (24.3 average). He spent training camp with the Dolphins, recording three catches for 33 yards and one rush for 11 yards in the preseason, prior to being waived on Friday.

Reuland (6'4", 260) was signed as an undrafted free agent by San Francisco on July 27, 2011. He was waived Sept. 3 by the 49ers following training camp, then was added to their practice squad the next day and spent all 17 weeks of the regular season there. He had nine receptions for 73 yards in four preseason games with the Niners this summer. In two seasons at Stanford, Reuland appeared in 26 games (nine starts) after spending two seasons (2006-07) at Notre Dame and was named an All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection as a senior in 2010.
