LYONS: Smart Football, First-Half MVPs

File Under: Eric Mangini, Laveranues Coles, Leon Washington, Buffalo Bills, Trent Edwards, Brett Favre

It was once said, "If you think you can or you think you can't, you're probably right."

The Jets played smart football and used a physical defense to beat a Buffalo team that had not lost a home game in the '08 season. They played from the shoulders up and executed a game plan that didn't just frustrate the Buffalo players but also their fans.

The team leader also emerged yesterday: Kris Jenkins… More

Jets-Bills: First Half

File Under: Darrelle Revis, Leon Washington, Marshawn Lynch, Trent Edwards, Brett Favre, Leodis McKelvin, Derek Fine

It's the battle of the 40-yard plays as the Jets-Bills game opens up.

Leon Washington starts the game with a 40-yard kickoff return to the Jets 39. Two plays later, he takes a quick screen and darts through traffic for 40 more yards to the Bills 21. This sets up Jay Feely's 37-yard field goal into the so far still mild Orchard Park breeze for a 3-0 Jets lead.

File Under: Shaun Ellis, Buffalo Bills, Dick Jauron, Trent Edwards, Ralph Wilson Stadium, Travis Henry

Dynamic Doings in the AFC East Today

File Under: Chad Pennington, Buffalo Bills, Tom Brady, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Ronnie Brown, Trent Edwards, Roscoe Parrish, Rian Lindell

For the first time since Week 2 of the 2003 regular season — a span covering 86 regular-season weeks — the Buffalo Bills are in sole possession of first place in the AFC East. And that’s not even the lead story in the division on this Sunday.

The Miami Dolphins went into Foxboro and put together a Boston Massacre of their own, ripping the Patriots by a 38-13 count. If you’re counting at hom… More

AFCE Trends: Bills' TD Drive Percentage

File Under: Buffalo Bills, Dick Jauron, Trent Edwards, Turk Schonert

There is optimism in Bills country, as there should be. The defense has gotten a transfusion with the free agency arrivals of DT Marcus Stroud and LB Kawika Mitchell, the return of LB Paul Posluszny from his broken arm, and the first-round drafting of CB Leodis McKelvin.

The offense has added 6'6" second-round WR James Hardy to the mix that already features second-year RB Marshawn Lynch and secon… More
