STS*: Cole Fast Becoming Kick Cover Force

File Under: Drew Coleman, Rex Ryan, Danny Woodhead, Ahmad Carroll, Oakland Raiders, Dennis Thurman, Marquice Cole

Talk about jets. Marquice Cole was wearing them when he got last Sunday's game at Oakland off on the right foot with a big play on the opening kickoff.

"Drew Coleman made the tackle," Cole said. "But being able to cause that penalty put them in the hole. When a team has bad field position, which special teams can cause, you see what happens. It was a big play in the game, even though it was the f… More

Weapons vs. Bills Will Be Passion, Emotion

File Under: Jerricho Cotchery, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Rex Ryan, Braylon Edwards, Marquice Cole, single wing

Embarrassing loss? Nice rebound game for Mark Sanchez? Impressive debut by Braylon Edwards?

All true. But as Rex Ryan reminded today, this is now Week 6 of the Jets' season, no longer Week 5.

"We moved on, so I'm excited about this opportunity to get back and play in front of our fans, to try to right our ship a lit bit," the Jets head coach said at this afternoon's news conference about Sunday'… More

Big Day for Sanchez-to-Wright Connection

File Under: Chansi Stuckey, Kellen Clemens, Eric Smith, Wallace Wright, Calvin Pace, Marquice Cole, Mark Sanchez

Today’s afternoon practice, as in the morning, was full-squad and it was on the SUNY Cortland grass field. It was a shortie — about an hour and 15 minutes — and it again featured the quarterbacks. Kellen Clemens looked sharp early. Mark Sanchez (with a little help from his friend, Wallace Wright) made some nice throws late.

Clemens had two long balls in particular to note in 11-on-11 drills… More

Marquice Makes an Impact in the Afternoon

File Under: David Clowney, Danny Woodhead, Reggie Hodges, Dennis Thurman, Marquice Cole, Mark Sanchez, T.J. Conley

Marquice Cole had one play late in this afternoon’s training camp practice that he’d like to have back. But Cole also had three plays that he can take to the bank as he fights for a Jets roster spot.

Cole, the first-year CB out of Northwestern who has yet to play in an NFL game but has spent time on the rosters of the Raiders, Titans and Saints, made his first big play for the second defense … More

Sanchez Throws First Pro Pick to Cole

File Under: Marcus Henry, Paul Raymond, Marquice Cole, Mark Sanchez, Allen Patrick

You knew it had to come, and so at this afternoon's second practice of the Jets' rookie minicamp, it did.

Mark Sanchez threw his first pro interception.

It still took a pretty play by first-year CB Marquice Cole to put this INT against the first-round rookie in the books. After a giveaway-less morning practice, Sanchez dropped back in 7-on-7 drills and tried to connect with WR Paul Raymond down … More
