Steelers End Super '08; for Jets, '09 Starts Now

File Under: PIttsburgh Steelers, Rex Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Santonio Holmes, Arizona Cardinals, Kurt Warner, Super Bowl XLIII, Larry Fitgerald

They told us this was a different Cardinal, but the Bird that flew around Tampa, Fla., the majority of Super Bowl XLIII was so ordinary it was frustrating.

Even before a play was run from scrimmage, the Cards won the coin toss and curiously elected to defer to the second half. With their explosive offense on the sideline, the Cards relinquished a nine-play, 71-yard drive and were down, 3-0, just … More

EA: Steelers, Cards Advance, Ravens Don't

File Under: PIttsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Rex Ryan, Arizona Cardinals, Super Bowl XLIII

If Rex Ryan is the 17th head coach of the New York Jets, we'll know very soon.

Ryan, who's served the past four years as the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, fell short of "Target Tampa" as the Ravens dropped a 23-14 decision to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game tonight.

Ryan's defense, which yielded only 275 yards and 16 of the points in defeat, registered nine takeaw… More

On Sunday, while … More

EA: Pa. Teams Advance; No Two-Peat for Giants

File Under: Eli Manning, Philadelphia Eagles, PIttsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Rex Ryan, New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals

The National Football League will crown a new champion in February.

After the New York Giants claimed an improbable title following the 2007 season, they couldn’t duplicate that success in their new role as favorite. The G-Men turned the ball over three times against the Blitzing Birds and the Philadelphia Eagles scored a 23-11 victory this afternoon at the Meadowlands.

Mr. J, Mike T to Talk with Grimm in the Desert

File Under: Mike Tannenbaum, Woody Johnson, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, Russ Grimm, Hogs

As a followup to my most recent Radar entry this afternoon, one of those six interviews that the Jets will have this week with head-coaching candidates will be with an old Hog.

Russ Grimm, the Arizona Cardinals' assistant head coach/offensive line and the longtime Washington Redskins guard, will interview with a Jets contingent that will include owner Woody Johnson and GM Mike Tannenbaum in the P… More
