Trying to Build Another W in Cincy

File Under: bengals, Anthony Schlegel, Mike Nugent, Andre Dyson, Paul Brown Stadium, Centerville, Rudi Johnson

I believe it was my good friend Frank Litsky of The New York Times who once remarked, back in the Eighties at a Giants-Bengals game that Cincinnati looked like a city designed during an architects' competition. And sitting in the pressbox for the first time at Paul Brown Stadium, I can second that observation.

The stadium itself has futuristic awnings perched over its green seats (perhaps suggest… More

'I'd Be Frustrated If I Was a Fan'

File Under: Chad Pennington, Jonathan Vilma, Andre Dyson, Plaxico Burress

The password is "frustration."

"It's just frustrating," LB Jonathan Vilma, sitting in front of his Meadowlands locker today and shaking his head after the Jets' fall-from-ahead 35-24 road loss to the Giants. "We've got to find a way to climb back out of it."

Jets-Giants: Fourth Quarter

File Under: Chad Pennington, David Harris, Jerricho Cotchery, Laveranues Coles, Andre Dyson, Plaxico Burress, Aaron Ross

Chad Pennington again threw a bad pass after throwing a number of excellent throws. After throwing a rope over the middle to Laveranues Coles for 15 yards on third-and-13, Pennington tries to find Jerricho Cotchery heading toward the end zone. But the throw is off target. Cotchery doesn't have a chance to catch it or to break it up. Instead, rookie CB Aaron Ross snags it for the pick and tries to … More

Personnel Surprise: Bender Deactivated

File Under: Inactives, Jacob Bender, Andre Dyson, opening day, white uniforms

Opening Day. 'Nuff said.

All right, there's a lot more to be said, but Sept. 9 is here, the Jets and Patriots are in the Meadowlands, and the first leg of the Green & White's next marathon is about to begin.

The early notes from the stadium include a shocker. The inactives for both teams have just been announced, and for the Jets, Jacob Bender is inactive. So the sixth-round rookie from Nicholls… More

Cooler Heads Prevailed in P.M.

File Under: Mike Nugent, David Barrett, Andre Dyson, Tony Hollings, Evan Prall

I didn't do my due diligence as a sports meteorologist because the early evening weather was not nearly as bad as the morning's heat, more low 80s under a thick cloud cover than low 90s under a still sizzling setting sun.

And the practice wasn't as sizzling as the morning session, more learning and review, it seemed for the most part.

Andre Dyson came up with a gem in early teams work, jumping o… More
