03/04 — The first off-season of head coach Rex Ryan's New York Jets has begun with a flurry of activity, and one place to stay in touch with all the Green & White developments is with the exclusive and unique coverage of the team on SportsNet New York's "Jets Nation."
SNY, the official year-round TV home of the Jets, kicks off this season of "Jets Nation" on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. EST. Guests will be offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and newly signed inside linebacker Bart Scott, and the topics are naturals for this time of year: the unrestricted free agency signing period, the recently concluded NFL Combine workouts and the 2009 draft.
The season premiere will reair four times in the ensuing two weeks.
"This show has always been popular off-season viewing for our fans," said Bob Parente, the Jets' vice president of broadcasting and production, "and from what we're hearing and seeing, our fourth season of Jets Nation on SNY will be our best yet."

Wed, March 4, 2009 - 2:12pm ET"i know this comment won't be published cause i'm going to slight SNY. how can SNY even bandy the moniker of "official year-round TV home of the Jets" when coverage of the team only lasts the 4 months of the season and a month or 2 of off-season activity? they don't even show old jet games a la the mets classics and even give priority to baseball coverage forsaking jets nation for mets coverage."
Randy Lange Said:
"scionce, your comment was published when you sent it in but I must respond to some of your statements. "Jets Nation" airs all off-season. There were 29 original shows last year and there will be 19 shows this year. All facets of the Jets' off-season will be covered, from the NFL Combine this week through free agency, the draft and all minicamps. Mets games never bump any one show because each show is aired five times during a given cycle, once originally and four reairs. And the Jets and SNY are not permitted to show any "classic" Jets games; only the NFL has the rights to show those games."

Wed, March 4, 2009 - 2:39pm ET"YES! It's official,I never have to hold my breath with Nugent again,he signed with Tampa.YES!"
Mike Gundy Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 3:31pm ET"Jets Nation is unwatchable. I'm on the Ira bandwagon!!!! Jump on! Get him on there. He knows more about the Jets than anyone. If Ira was on the show, I'd watch. Hey Randy, make it happen! "
Ira Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 3:41pm ET"Good Luck to Nuge. Guess he needed a change of scenery. I think he will do well in Tampa. Now go get Feely locked up. "

Alexander Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 4:44pm ET"Mr T is notorious for trading in the 1st rd of the draft. So I say trade with the Skins and get their 13th pick. There's no way they can afford the 13th pick with the Haynesworth and Hall signings. We can go in two directions; either build our DE with Tyson Jackson or get a playmaker with Jeremy Maclin. Both would be fine additions to the team. Personally, I'd love to see Maclin wearing green"

Wed, March 4, 2009 - 5:09pm ET"cant wait jetsnation is my favorite show...the only bad thingf about it is buttle will never say anything bad about the jets makin it seem the jets a superbowl bound every year... i like how custer and lucas always says leon waaasshington!!"
Joe B Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 5:26pm ET"Welcome back Jets Nation. It'd be great if Ira got a regular spot on the show. Not only is he very knowledgeable and a gentleman, but it would be refreshing to have someone who brings a fan's perspective to the program. It would add a fresh new dimension to JN that goes beyond the staged sparring between Buttle and Lucas. What are the chances of this happening, Randy? Please push the idea."
Row Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 6:30pm ET"With the good defense, and our offense a big question mark, we NEED a good kicker, so this should be next on the list. Bironas should be out there along with Feeley. Let's get a guy we can depend on. Just a thought, I would like to know when off-season workouts start, and who went if we can get that, Randy. Your coverage has been so good the past month!"
Randy Lange Said:
"Thanks, Row, but flattery will not get you no information before it's time."
Jay Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 7:16pm ET"1st off this Jets Nation / Jets Postgame Live are the best shows on tv and we all watch religiously until the end, even after a horrible loss. I'm with you alexander, tyson jackson would be perfect for the defense. maclin perfect for the O. I wouldn't even mind trying to trade up for Crabtree. T, DE and we are set in the draft. This team is very close if the qbs are even average."
Sam Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 7:32pm ET"Joe B (lol), I completely agree. It's Ira's turn. When will the light go on in the organization? If no one in the front office has the imagination to give Ira a part on Jets Nation or SNY--at least, the Jets should hire him to work in some meaningful way--where he'd bring his energy and unfailing devotion to the Jets to the job. He could help the team improve its relations with the fans."

Vincent Said:
Wed, March 4, 2009 - 10:28pm ET"Glad the show is back! I was having Jets withdrawal symptoms already, and there is still 7mths to go before the season starts! Yeah, the show has its flaws, but I wouldn't miss it! Great stuff."
scionce Said:
Thu, March 5, 2009 - 5:26am ET"randy, coverage when available has been quite serviceable. though i can remember at least 2 times since its inception that SNY "bumped" jets programming due to games going longer than expected and priority given to other shows, as i tivo'd JN and got sportsnite. sad the nfl won't allow teams to license/syndicate classic games to stations they have TV deals with. and why the decrease from 29 to 19?"
Randy Lange Said:
"In answer to your last question, the economy, perhaps? Also, a Mets game may have bumped a particular Jets Nation show but my point was that each show is reaired four times so there are five chances to see the show and all five are not going to be bumped in the show's one- or two-week cycle."
