File Under: Flight Crew, Seattle Seahawks, Sea Gals, McChord Air Force Base, Fort Lewis

12/26 — Hey, Jets fans, it's Meredith from the Flight Crew! I’m so excited to tell you all about the exciting weekend I just had. I was chosen along with three other Flight Crew members to take a trip across the United States to Seattle, Wash., to visit the troops. We left New York on Thursday night and arrived at the Seattle airport at 12:00 a.m. Seattle time (3 a.m. NY) and that’s when our journey began!

Our first stop was to pay a visit to the McChord Air Force base, where we had the chance to meet and greet with some of the servicemen and women, sign some autographs and take tons of pictures. The four of us were each given a patch from the 4th Airlift Squadron, which we will proudly be wearing on our sleeve at this Sunday’s game.

We were also lucky to have the opportunity to board one of the Air Force carrier planes — which is so big it actually can transport a helicopter! It was so interesting to see the view from the pilot's seat.

Our next stop took us to the military base fire department, where we learned a lot about what these brave firefighters do everyday. Some of us even got to try on all of their fire gear, and we even shared in a nice cup of hot cocoa! Mmm … it was delicious! Just a reminder: There was a blizzard going on!

Day two led us to Fort Lewis, one of the biggest military bases in Seattle, averaging about 170,000 troops and family. This was a day that we really were able to interact with the troops as well as their family members, as a lot of them were deploying to Iraq this upcoming week. It was a very rewarding experience for all of us girls to be surrounded by these brave men and women.

Later that night, we made another stop at the military police station. As the snow continued to fall in Seattle, which hadn’t seen a flake in over two years, we took a look around the station. We had so much fun testing the lights and sirens on the police cars. We even learned how to fingerprint.

As a finale to our trip in Seattle, we were privileged to watch our Jets take on the Seahawks. What a different perspective being in the stands and not performing on the field during the game. We were so excited when we got the chance to quickly meet the Seattle Sea Gals after the game.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Sunday’s game against Miami! Have a Happy Holiday! Oh, and P.S. — my birthday happens to be on Christmas so don’t forget to pack that extra gift for Sunday’s game! J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!
