File Under: Buffalo Bills, Aaron Schobel, David Clowney, Fan Appreciation Day, Vernon Gholston, Green Out

12/14 — The inactive lists are out for today's Jets-Bills game on Fan Appreciation Day, and who's on the Jets' IA list and who's not on the list will leave fans with mixed emotions.

Active for the first time and poised to make his NFL debut: WR David Clowney. Inactive for the first time: first-round LB Vernon Gholston.

As expected, WR Brad Smith has been deactivated following his violent collision with Patrick Willis at San Francisco.

The rest of the Jets' inactive list: K Mike Nugent, DB Drew Coleman, just-signed S J.R. Reed, DB David Barrett and LB Jason Trusnik. Brett Ratliff is the third quarterback.

The Bills have opted not to sign anyone to replace DE Aaron Schobel, who was IRed on Thursday. Their inactive list: RB Xavier Omon, CBs Jabari Greer and Dustin Fox, G Jason Whittle, T Demetrius Bell and TE Jonathan Stupar, with injured Trent Edwards listed as the third QB.

Actives and inactives aside, Jets fans would like nothing better than to say "Appreciate ya" by cheering on a very important win over the Buffalo Bills today in the Meadowlands.

The players are in keeping with today's "Green Out" theme by wearing their green jerseys and green pants for the game. That combo is being worn for the first time this season.

Since 2002, when the team started wearing green/green regularly, the Jets have almost without fail alternated wins with losses. The record is 6-7 and the only deviation from the "Dutch 200" pattern was a loss in 2006 here by 31-13 to none other than the Bills.

But the Jets' biggest win of '07 was also accomplished in double green over the Steelers. And a win today would rank up there since it would get the Green & White back on the winning track and allow them to keep control of their "destiny" (read: playoffs).

Today's referee is Jeff Triplette. The Jets' record in the seven games Triplette has reffed since 1999 is 2-5. But the two wins were pretty significant: the 2004 season-opening win over Cincinnati and the win in the 2006 regular-season finale over Oakland. Both seasons were playoff seasons. The most recent Jets game Triplette refereed was the 2007 season-opener here to New England.

"we need more clowney, he has speed and if u look at the packers last year they would spread the defense out all the time and brett farve was killing um. spread them out mangini, put in clowny and use him for the deep ball, and like everyone has been saying, show some emotion, it took 5 tacklers to stop the running backs today and one still went for a touchdown, get mad or somthing"

"I think the players have the ability to get the job done and then some. But who's calling the plays on defense? the other guys? They need to revamp their entire coaching squad."
