Marty, a member of the New York Sack Exchange in the Eighties, is in his seventh season as the Jets' radio analyst.
11/17 — Congratulations to the New York Jets players and staff for their big win against New England. You're now where you wanted to be — first place in the AFC East.
The facts of the game tell the whole story, The Jets never trailed the entire game, building a lead of 24-6 at one time in the second quarter. Brett Favre was 26-for-33, 2 TDs, 258 yards and NO INTS. The Jets rushed for 140 yards, compared to 125 yards for the Patriots.
I know what everyone is thinking: How did the Jets allow New England back in the game? Well, New England is not the St. Louis Ram. They don't roll over, they have a rich tradition and a great deal of pride. That's why they've won three Super Bowls in the previous seven years. That's why they went 18-0 last year: pride and respect for themselves.
That's why this was such a big win.
The Jets could have felt sorry for themselves when the Patriots tied the score, but they didn't. They could have felt sorry for themselves when the game went into overtime after a great catch by Randy Moss, but they didn't. This team is different.
Being different doesn't always mean winning more games.
Being different means believing in one another and fighting till the end, whether it's 60 minutes of football or even overtime.
Being different is believing in the game plan and executing it.
Being different is leadership, guys like Favre, Faneca, Woody, Jones, Washington, Jenkins, Ellis, Barton, Revis and Rhodes to name a few.
Being different is not allowing fans to say "the same old Jets". It's OK to be different.
You really want to be different? Do what no one has been able to do ...
Beat the TITANS!!!!!!!!!
Remember you have something special here. Build on it, one game at a time.

"david, Vernon Gholston was active for and played in the Jets' game at New England."

Mon, November 17, 2008 - 3:12pm ET"Marty, Agree 100% with your comments. One gane at a time and build from week to week. And please its enough already with the "same old Jets" crying. Parcells came in here and turned this franchise around. Bradway and Herm made the playoffs 3 out of 5 years. And now Mr. T and Eric are on the road to the playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 years. Maybe an AFC Title and more. You have to believe. GO JETS!"

Mon, November 17, 2008 - 3:12pm ET"Marty I never felt comfortable at 24-6, I would have felt better at 31-6. The Pats will never quit especially against the Jets, I knew they were coming back. Either way there are no style points in the NFL , we take the win & get out of town hoping not to see them again this year. Tremendous character was shown by our team & coaches to overcome such adversity late in that game. Great win !!"

Mon, November 17, 2008 - 3:41pm ET"Maybe we can get Gholston into the game as a speed passrusher and shut them down using him as a secret weapon the way the giants knocked off the patriots in the superbowl. "

Mon, November 17, 2008 - 4:18pm ET"This team has shown great charecter and disipline especially the last 2 AFC East road games. They are becoming battle tested for a hopeful playoff run. I wont go into my Mangini crush but I beleive he has alot to do with the hard working and intelligent values we usually show on Sundays. Things he stressed everyday he's been here. If we beat the Titans things will get very interesting in Jetland"

This win is only the beginning. This is a whole new "DIFFERENT" JETS team and the sky is the limit. GO J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS"

Mon, November 17, 2008 - 5:42pm ET"Marty is right: they could have given up any number of times, but they didn't. There's nothing more I could want from my team. I think we match up well with the Titans and I, for one, believe on November 24th watercooler talk will center on "those surprising Jets.""

Dan Said:
Mon, November 17, 2008 - 8:14pm ET"I must say I was quite distraught by the defense's play at the end of the first half and for the entire second half. We seemed unable to play in the nickel, with the pats seemingly picking up 8 or 9 yards on every pass play. If not for Watson's fumble, that botched snap for minus 22 yards, and a dropped Gaffney pass, I think they might have scored on just about every posesion from the end of half1"
wyomingjet Said:
Tue, November 18, 2008 - 12:37pm ET"The Jets can and will beat the Titans if they play all four quarters. A meltdown in the second half against the Titans will cost us the chance to be the first and possibly only team to beat these guys. I know we have the ability to beat this team. The question is how bad do we want it. Let's show the world who we are! J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets! We love you guys!"

Michael Said:
Tue, November 18, 2008 - 3:54pm ET"Like the way the New York Jets are playing..If the Jets could stop the run they could win this game.....Yes the Jets are the most talented team that the titans have played as far as record is concerned....It will be a tough game for both teams....I'm a die hard Jets fan since the Richard Todd days...If the Jets could will this game they could go all the way...So Let's go JETS!"
Row Said:
Tue, November 18, 2008 - 5:19pm ET"Mike Jet Vet, he favors the run and passes out of running formations. We got rid of him after a season filled with injuries, including one that Curtis Martin never healed from. Most known for an I formation with 3 receivers. Likes to play with the slot guy. Kinda old school. We will beat the Titans or Oilers or Kerry Collins scrubs. We will make him look like Trent Edwards last night!"
Joe Said:
Tue, November 18, 2008 - 10:06pm ET"funny all you jets fans are complaining about the titans not playing a hard schedule. Well, i have some news for you. By saying "oh this jets team stayed in cali" doesnt mean their not going to come back from cali. And im not sayin they are but the titans are going to make them look like the team from cali. And the NFL is all about consistancy. Who can come to play EVERY week. not sometimes"
diane Said:
Wed, November 19, 2008 - 6:50pm ET"This was a gigantic win for the jets, being a jet fan since the sixties it is so hard to be positive...so many dissapointing seasons..do they finally have all the weapons...all the spirit..all the talent...to go to a superbowl..this next game just might be their superbowl...consistancy marty...the sac exchange had alot of that didn"
