Randy Lange Said:
"jet80, there is an eight-man maximum on NFL practice squads. One team can sign a player off of another team's P-squad but only to place that player on its 53-man roster. "

Mon, September 1, 2008 - 2:58pm ET"Surprised that Kyle DeVan didn't make the practice squad. I don't think he got enough playing time to show his talents."
Drew Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:03pm ET"Now all of the Paul Raymond fans can sleep easy tonight. Glad to see Caulcrick stick around it's nice to have a young FB from the Big Ten. I would like to see the Jets go get Eugene Wilson. I think he was released by the Bucs. He would be a perfect backup at FS or CB."

Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:17pm ET"good to see raymond is still around isn't there usually an international PS player?"
Randy Lange Said:
"Sometimes but not always, Dom. This summer the Jets didn't have an international practice squad player on the roster."

Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:19pm ET"It's great to see that we kept Raymond, McChesney, and Ihedigbo. Some of these guys could get some playing time this year."
Xavion Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:24pm ET"Funny To see how NE snatched up Posiak And Bender and Miami took Garner... I assume both are looking for info on cadences and line protection as well as the shifts and motions..."
Howard Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:27pm ET"nice mix on the ps but i thought j bender might make it,and after keeping 7 wrs on the roster why 1 on the ps"
Frank Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:40pm ET"I would have signed Ball over Brackins he short armed a perfect throw from Clemens vs. Eagles that should have been a TD. I thought Ball showed better hands made a few nice catches on poor throws and caught a TD in traffic I put him next to Raymond as a PS player. I like guys who play well in games and not practice stars who don't transfer that play to the games. I hope Clowney heals quickly."
Ira Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:47pm ET"Drew, I agree with you and would like them to sign Wilson. I don't get it they had him in for talks last year and i thought for sure they would go after him this past March. Now there are reports that they are close to signing Lynch. While Lynch is a good veteran to have around he stil will be 37 yrs old soon. Can't cover like he used to. I would prefer Wilson. Oh yes i am a big Raymond fan."
Segundo Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 3:48pm ET"Randy, but didn't the Jets sign Elgin from the Pats's practice squad to their own last year?"
Randy Lange Said:
"Segundo, C Mike Elgin was never on New England's practice squad. He was a last cut by the Patriots on Sept. 1 and cleared waivers. Once that happened, he was eligible to be signed to another team's practice squad. The Jets signed Elgin to their P-squad Sept. 5 and released him Oct. 4."
Fran'scan Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 4:03pm ET"Think Tangini made some good moves here Randy. I am also a Jerseyite who will love going down the parkway to see training camp for the first time next year ! Also, good to see Raymond make the PS, he earned it & glad to see Bender & David Balls go, they were mediocre at best and will likely be giving our shifts, etc away to AFC east rivals as we speak. Its part of the game, just hope we do it too."
Jake Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 4:05pm ET"Randy Are we going to get a summary of the conference call at 6 ?"

Mon, September 1, 2008 - 5:05pm ET"I agree, thought Ball would make ps, Brackins was a surprise. "
Frank Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 5:12pm ET"Drew and Ira you are missing the point with Lynch it's addition by subtraction taking Lynch from the Pats who probably have a verbal understanding to save a roster spot to sit tight and bring him back. Also it is now a 3 ring circus with Parcells back in the division as Xavion pointed out they will be signing and pumping each others players for info to gain an edge on game day. Ah the games begin!"
Frank Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 5:26pm ET"Not sure what Tangini is thinking with the RB situation but having just 2 backs who can run the ball is not good. I suggest they look at Kenton Keith formerly of the Colts who did a good job last year spelling Adai. He had 533 yards on 121 carries and would be a good fit. Enough with the B. Smith nonsense as being the #3 that is both alarming and absurd coming from management."
Jordan Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 5:38pm ET"How did Bender slip to the Pats practice squad? Was there no real effort made to sign him?"
Ira Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:03pm ET"Frank, I am not overly impressed with Lynch. With all due repsect i don't think he has much more in the tank. He will not make the difference for either the Jets or Pats having a winning season. I already mentioned Keith. He got into trouble this offseason if i recall. Plus what RB wants to come to the Jets knowing in 4 weeks he will be replaced by Chatman."
Ira Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:09pm ET"Eric also took the chance of having only 2 RB's the last 2 years. Last year he dressed onlt TJ and Leon. And in 06 it was Leon,Houston and Barlow. Most of the games if not all of them there was always 1 inactive. I don't like it but i quess like he said in a pinch they would use Smith as a RB."
T Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:20pm ET"Bender? He couldn't crack a spot on a terrible line on a team that went 4 and 12 last year. Why would you want the Jets to keep him? "
JOHNNYJET Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:20pm ET"SIGN JOHN LYNCH!!!!!!! SIGN JOHN LYNCH!!!!!"
Theo Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:21pm ET"Ball would have been the better choice over Brackins. Going to have to go for a RB in next years draft. This year they should drop QB Clemens and pick up RB Marcel Shipp!!! Also, do we really need a John Lynch at this point?? Seriously Mangini....Think about it!!"
Pete Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:43pm ET"I agree with the cuts but I was hoping Ihedigbo would make the team. He really stood out with his aggressive play, much like Elam did last year. Would still love to see Lynch on the team as I still think we need help with run D. We won't need to cover anybody if we can't stop the run. I guess Mangini liked Chatman enough to keep open a roster spot for him. May be a good idea if he can stay clean"
Scott Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:43pm ET"I like the fact that we kept our good players and did not follow the standard "formula" for keeping certain numbers at each position. However, how do we release Posiacek? He was a 3rd year guy overcoming injury who looked excellent in both run and pass game. Why not trade Baker, if we need to make room? I hate seeing him in New England."
jet80 Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 7:05pm ET"I agree with Ira if we get Lynch i think thats enough with bringing in these guys who were once great but are running low on gas.Its like those stupid sport movies where a teams last hope is bringing in guys out of retirement that were once great ,pro bowlers from 5 to 8 years ago.I dont know but this lets make a dream team of yesterdays dream team is starting to scare me"
Frank Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 7:11pm ET"Ira with limited typing space it's difficult to get a complete thought across. I don't like Lynch either I don't want him signed I was suggesting they Mangini, Parcells and Belichick are playing mind games between each other as is there history, habit and pedigree dictates. The big difference from your RB scenerio as described above we had another RB that was not active on game day. Right now ...."
Frank Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 7:16pm ET"....We do not even have a third RB on the roster. What happens if Leon or TJ gets hurt? I'd rather have someone else in the mix. We definitely don't need 4 QB's on the roster. I know the team has been off and doesn't resume practice until Wednesday maybe then Ainge will stub his toe and move to IR."
Frank Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 7:21pm ET"Geez guys take it easy. Bender and Garner were signed and are being pumped for our line calls. Both will be cut in the near future. Anyone who says Baker should have been cut or traded should be disqualified from commenting here. He is the best all around TE on the roster and is also a relatively young guy. Keller will play a lot in the slot and Franks will be used for short yardage and goal line."
Drew Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 7:26pm ET"I'm never one to question my boys Tangini but I am not sure about this 4 QB and 2 RB's deal. I know things can change (Ainge better go on IR soon) so I will not judge yet. We should have 4 RB''s on this team including Chatman. It's not like we have a AllPro back there to begin with. TJ's "good enough" and Leon is not an everydown back. I like the V Morency that got cut from GB. Another Favre buddy"

Mon, September 1, 2008 - 8:06pm ET"We need a RB just out of college. I don't think we would take a chance on Benson or Henry. As for Ball, I agree he had the best hands between him and Brackins. 6-7 WR's is just plain stupid. We need to run the ball. I can't help you X, used to go up there every weekend when I was stationed in Lejeune. Try Hooters, BWW's or ESPN zone. Just say no to Lynch! "
Ira Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 8:15pm ET"Randy, The best news of the 2008 season as of now is that Westhoff is back. And not just because of his coaching ability. Whats real is his health and its good that the doctors cleared him to comeback. Eric wasn't sure of a title for him. I am not big on title names but in this case it should be special. I like Head Advisor for Special Teams and Assistant Coaches. Welcome back Coach Westhoff."
Ira Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 8:18pm ET"Frank, Don't worry they could always p/u a veteran RB if somebody were to go down before Chatman gets back. Lets hope thats not the case. BTW Rudi Johnson signed a 1 year deal with the Lions."

Don't forget Richardson has run the ball plenty, so thats 3 now & we'll have Chatman back soon & he won't be activated most weeks.I think Brackens was kept purely because of his size. I agree with most of you , we don't need Lynch, he clearly has lost a step Den&N.E.thought so& KC nevercalled"

Xavion Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 9:52pm ET"Bah I think We should sign Lynch just to bench him and keep him off an Active roster so he doesn't Mysteriously End up in the probowl Snubbing Kerry Rhodes again. Xavion Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 9:57pm ET"Oh and Welcome Back Mike Westhoff, The Best part of last season returns with you. I seriously have no problem with the 2 RB situation for 4 games. Its not liek its the whole season or even 1/2 its 1/4. Like coach said If we need 2 we can throw smith in there or Trich. or if someone gets injured put them on IR and bring up Caulcrick"
TonyC Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 11:15pm ET"The only cut I have a problem with is Pociask. He had a great preseason. He caught the ball well and was useful in run blocking. I don't understand why James Dearth gets a roster spot just to snap the ball. He hasn't had a reception since '01 and isn't a big ST contributor. If Mangini likes versatility then teach someone useful to be a long snapper."

MikeMc Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 11:26am ET"PortedTA- Clemmens is not a lemon, he's a young developing serviceable QB, he may not be a future star, but he may develope into a top 10 QB. FRANK I swear I'm not picking on you , but it's funny you told Spicer " I got a great idea lets wait until later in the season and see what happens" I've been saying that to you for months(on different subjects of course)."
MikeMc Said:

Ira Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:19pm ET"TonyC, The reason they keep Dearth is because he is money. he might be the best LS in the NFL. You can count on 1 hand how many bad snaps he has had since he has been with the team. MikeMc, Gee don't know about that one. Maybe Randy can come up with a good title. "
Ken Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:21pm ET"Now the Patriots picked up Pociask and Chatman and will gets ALL the JETS OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE plays and calls. MANGINI better get some the PATRIOTS and MIAMI players to get their plays too! What do you guys think about this? RANDY isn't this picking up of other teams players and getting all their Offesnive and Defensive info dishonest? Belichick picking up Pociask and Chatman?"
Randy Lange Said:
"IMHO, Ken, it is not dishonest for a team to pick up a free agent formerly of a team it's going to play. It's NFL-legal, it's been done for a long while, and the Jets and Patriots didn't invent the practice."
Drew Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:25pm ET"How funny is it that we are 5 days from the biggest start to a Jet season in a long time and Spicer is roaring about how Mcfadden has not fumbled the ball?? I love to stick it to Frank as much as anyone but I think at the end of the year Mendenhall will have a better year for about 20 millon less dollars. Have you checked out a Dallas game Spicer?? Felix Jones will have a better year also. "
Drew Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:30pm ET"Apparently Joey Porter still plays in the NFL. Does this guy ever shut his mouth? It's one thing to be a All-Pro and run your mouth but we kicked this guy all over the field last year with a horrible team and he still finds way to make news. He is going to get Favre and all this nonsense?? What a clown. I hope T-Rich blows this guy up every running play."
KEN Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:33pm ET"I don't trust this thing with LYNCH. Y would the Patriots give LYNCH the option to come back if he signs with the JETS? BELICHICK probably wants LYNCH to go to the JETS & bring back info to the Patriots. BELICHICK is still playing his MIND games. Mangini better watch out for Belichick picking up Posicek & the LB Chatman from the JETS! And Mangini better NOT trade RATLIFF! Why is Clemens #2?"
Ray Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:50pm ET"Guys, all this talk about cutting or trading Clemens, or making him the #3 is ridiculous. They aren't going to get rid of the only guy with real experience in this offense and leave Favre and two total rooks as insurance. Clemens is the right choice, let Ratliff and Ainge just sit back and learn. Besides, if we really need any of them this year, that is a bad sign."
Ira Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 2:01pm ET"Drew, I am with you on Jones. I think he will be a better pro then Mcfadden will be."
Josh Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 2:13pm ET"lynch would be dominant as a FS but i dont want him taking a spot away from K-Ro in the PB unless Lynch TRULY deserves it and doesnt get the "Seniority" treatment. Also the jets front 7 needs to be key this year or were gettin no where. but they will get the job done and well be riding a 11-5 season to the playoffs. i say we can get 5 wins within the division. 2W-BUF/ 2W-MIA / 1W-NE. LETS GO JETS"
Frank Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 2:44pm ET"Mickey Mc are you nuts? I am the one who says to let things play out on the field and see what the results are? In the mean time we are last in the league at running the ball, and have 2 RB's on the team. That is poor management, and lack of initiative. WAKE UP GUYS, WE HAVE TO RUN THE BALL!"

Drew Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 4:08pm ET"Frank..I would assume I am part of your "others" post. Here's what I dont get with you. You yell that they do not bring in big FA's (then Fanaca, Pace) you complain that Mangini runs too tough of a camp (he lightens up) You scream that D-Rob and Vilma do not fit (suprise both gone) maybe a year too late but gone for picks. We can stop the run (we trade 4 Jenkins) No pass rush (we get Gholsten)"
Drew Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 4:13pm ET"You screamed that Chad is all wrong for our offense and we go get Favre. We wanted Gholsten and we drafted him. I just dont understand what you are always moaning about. I might be the guy who drinks the Kool-Aid but I see major progress in what this organization is trying to do. Funny thing is I agree with most of your issues but they have been addressed. What more should they have done Frank???"

Don't take this offensive, i'm just trying to understand u a bit more"
Ray Said:
Wed, September 3, 2008 - 3:36am ET"Ira you got some inside info? I liked Ventrone alot and thought the Jets should have kept him. But I just checked and I still see him listed on the Pats roster."

Wed, September 3, 2008 - 10:23am ET"This is for you Cedric, real Jets fans support the team no matter what the record is or how they are playing. There is no time not to route for the Jets. Real Jets fans show pride in thier team no matter how they are doing and will never lose their love for the team. That is what seperates a real fan from a band wagon jumper that so many seem to be today."
CEDRIC Said:
Wed, September 3, 2008 - 5:10pm ET"I understand Hendrick, i route in good times & bad, i just dont critique as harsh as Frank does. I Bleed Green & White, no matrer who comes & goes. I just cant walk around being mad at my team all year long either."
