08/30 — Today is "Final Cut Day" in the NFL, and the Jets announced 22 player moves to get down to the NFL's 53-player maximum.
Two Jets veterans are at the top of the list as LB Matt Chatham and DB Hank Poteat were released. Eighteen other players were waived, and veteran S Cameron Worrell was placed on injured reserve (a correction from an earlier report in which we stated he was waived/injured).
Also, as previously announced by an NFL spokesperson, RB Jesse Chatman was suspended four games for violation of the league's steroids policy and will not count on the final-53 roster.
Head coach Eric Mangini is about to hold a conference call now with Jets reporters to comment on the moves.
Here is the list of the 18 players, by position, waived by the Jets:
RB — Jehuu Caulcrick
TE — Jason Pociask, A.J. Schable
WR — David Ball, Larry Brackins, Paul Raymond
OL — Jacob Bender, Stanley Daniels, Kyle DeVan, Nate Garner, Matt McChesney
DL — Thomas Johnson, Bryan Mattison, Ropati Pitoitua
LB — Blair Phillips, Brandon Renkart
DB — Rudy Burgess, James Ihedigbo
The Jets' current roster lists four QBs — Brett Favre, Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and rookie Erik Ainge — two tailbacks in Thomas Jones and Leon Washington, four tight ends (including long-snapper James Dearth), and seven wide receivers — Laveranues Coles, Jerricho Cotchery, Brad Smith, Chansi Stuckey, Wallace Wright, David Clowney and Marcus Henry.
The defensive distribution is more "usual" by football standards — seven linemen, eight LBs, nine DBs — although the moving of David Barrett around the secondary in camp and in the last two preseason games is reflected in the secondary numbers. There are only three safeties on the roster in Kerry Rhodes, Eric Smith and Abram Elam, but Barrett has passed his audition and now appears to be a safety as well as a corner.
There are 26 offensive players, 25 defensive players and two kickers on this roster, which still can change before the season-opening kickoff Sept. 7 at Miami. Five of the six members of the Jets' 2008 Jets draft class are on the active roster, with only seventh-round OL Nate Garner being waived.
One undrafted rookie free agent made this roster: DE/LB Kenwin Cummings, who had a team-leading six tackles in the final preseason game at Philadelphia. Also, the roster has three first-year players: Ratliff and WR David Clowney, who teamed up for 222 yards, eight completions and two 70-yard TDs in the first 1½ games before Clowney injured his shoulder, plus OL Robert Turner, who played in two games last season but still retains his first-year status this season.
All teams had until 4 p.m. EDT today to reach the maximum of 53 players on their Active/Inactive Lists, and after noon Sunday all teams may establish their eight-player practice squads.
Eric Allen and I are on the conference call, and EA will have a news story on Coach Mangini's comments shortly after the call ends this evening.

Sat, August 30, 2008 - 7:34pm ET"What a mess Chatman has created. Now we only have 2 RB's on this roster.. We either have to wait for this guy for 4 games or get another RB that dosent know our system? Funny how Chatman looked so much thinner and quicker than last year (try reading the weight loss jar Jesse) I continue to drink and pour the Green Kool-Aid even though some of my fellow fans doubted Tangini again. 1more week boys!"
Michael Cohen Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 7:53pm ET"Chatam was probably waived because of his steriod issues that will keep off the field for the first four weeks. Mangini probably felt it wasn't worth keeping him because of that. Other than that I can't disagree with the cuts that were made; the ballclub looks very good. They should try to find another running back, because Jones is running on fumes and Washington is really a return guy."
Randy Lange Said:
"Michael, just to keep things straight, Matt Chatham was waived but not for steroid issues. Jesse Chatman was not waived but was suspended four games by the NFL for violation of the league's steroids policy."
Duane Said:

Randy Lange Said:
"According to the NFL, joe, a player is eligible for the practice squad if he does not have an accrued season of free agency credit or if he was on a 45-player active list for fewer than nine regular-season games during his only accrued season. Also, a player cannot be on a practice squad for more than three seasons."
Charles F Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 9:28pm ET"Wow I'm shocked JC was caught using some type of enhancers and now suspended 4 games. Can't believe they cut H.Poteat and N.Garner and Caulcrick,Raymond. Hopefully they add them to PS. I'm sure they will put Ainge on PS , I can't see the Jets carrying 4 qb's. Jets may want to take a look at Rudi Johnson but it's odd how Cincy cut him. At least Cummings,Murrel and Caroll made the team. "
Steve in Aylmer Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 9:33pm ET"Raymond sealed his fate when he dropped that touchdown pass in the second preseason game that would have won the Jets the game. You can`t drop easy passes like that when you`re trying to make the squad, you just can`t. It must have left a lingering memory in the coaches. On a side note, I hope the Jets are looking for a field goal kicker to push Nugent. I`m not sold on him. "
Frank Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 9:34pm ET"Forget Rudi Johnson we already have "TJ" Barlow we don't need another plodder. I'd rather take a flyer on Travis Henry who is still available I know he is not a Tangini character guy but we need another backup for 4 games. We'll see who falls between the cracks. Drew so what's your point with Hobson? Unlike you, Ira and the others I called for Tangini to get Favre at all costs."
Eric NM Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 9:36pm ET"I don't think much of Rudi J. but Willie Anderson would be nice to have as a back-up tackle and maybe guard, if he's willing. "

Sat, August 30, 2008 - 9:59pm ET"Pociask will sign with the Giants before the end of tomorrow. Still think Ainge lands on IR once they find another RB. If Ainge were to get put on the PS he will be signed right away. Kenton Keith would be a nice addition if he would want to sign for say 4 weeks or so."

Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:08pm ET"Hey randy what happend to justin miller how long will he be out for and did they put him on injured reserve or not"
Randy Lange Said:
"Will, Justin Miller was in uniform for the Philadelphia game although he didn't play. He was not placed on IR. Coach Mangini will issue his first injury report of the season Wednesday."
Tom K. Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:22pm ET"Hank Poteat is a surprise cut. Trade Clemens to the Giants, Vikings, or Bears for a 4th round pick. Kellen would be a better #2 than Carr. Ainge should be our #3. He can learn from #4. Sign Caulcrick to the Practice Squad now! He was a big, strong, productive FB at Michigan State; especially during short yardage. Those back to back penalties he had Thursday night... He still belongs on this roster"
CEDRIC Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:25pm ET"I agree with Frank on the 4QB thing, we dont need that many QBs, Drew, Great point on the Hobson thing, Umm, can we get some points for Tangini on that call please(Yea Frank can we?)...gotta rub it in when i can...GO JETS!!"
Gasp Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:29pm ET"Randy do you think the Jets kept the 4 quarterbacks in order to trade one (Clemons) as the need for a quarterback becomes more pressing to other teams? I think Ratliff is the real deal and should be #2. He really see's the field well and has those intangible qualities (makes things happen) that so many others lack. Can't have any injuries at OL or RB or we are in trouble."
Randy Lange Said:
"Gasp, as Coach Mangini said Saturday night: "I like all four guys. It's such a vital position. If things were to change at some point, they would change. But I really have no expectations of them changing in the near future.""
greg Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:30pm ET"I agree with putting Ainge on the PS. As far as the RB situation i'm kinda scared. Chatham at week 5, fresh legs are nice but if he doesn't know the offense, he could just be a nuisance."
Allan Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:33pm ET"Ainge should be the one to be dropped. At best he can be a 2nd stringer in the NFL, an d the jets should take a chance on Rudi Johnson as T. Jones has not impressed me nor any jets fans since he arrived its worth a shot. Dont u think Randy?"
Dave Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:42pm ET"Randy, had been wondering about the cut of Paul Raymond, with his speed and ability to lose guys in the end zone. Maybe he was too small or wasn't doing enough on special teams, but after watching his reverse handoff vs. the Eagles plus a few of his other plays, was thinking it would be nice to have a guy like that. Thoughts?"
Randy Lange Said:
"Patience, Dave."
Pat_Jet_Fan_PA Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 11:34pm ET"Clemens should go, ranked 70th in pre-season to Ratliffs 7th. He's over rated and the Jets should have never kept him. Ratliff, and Ainge are more like the real deal."
eyeh8roids Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 11:35pm ET"Are you kidding me! The Jets are going to keep a guy that test positive for roids! I love the jets! This clearly shows that they have zero class by keeping this guy! You could 've given this spot to somebody who is drug free! Why don't we go out a get that roider from the chargers. THE JETS SHOULD BE ASHAMED THAT THEY KEPT THIS GUY! LETS WIN THE RIGHT WAY! CHATMAN CHEATED AND SHOULD BE A PATRIOT!!"
Drew Said:
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 11:46pm ET"I wonder how fast the Patriots bring Matt Chatham & Poteat in for a look...wink wink. I wonder how many patriots we bring in to "talk" to...... This roster is not nearly complete. 4 QB's?? Someone should tackle Ainge in the locker room so he can go on IR for the season. The Giants kept like 7 RB's we have 2 until week 4? I want to see the roster come week 1. Then I can judge."
Mike Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:17am ET"Keep in mind the players the Jets wish to place on the practice squad will have to clear waivers first. That is why they are carrying 4 QBs. Sure, they would love to put Ainge most likely there, but there is no way a 5th round pick would not get snatched up by another squad. Seems like a tactical error by management to me ending up in this situation. Maybe thinking ahead to 2009 with no Favre?"
Big A Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 2:14am ET"Randy, thanks for the reply on the practice squad. Is there any chance that you could post which of the players released are either eligible or not. I'm not quite sure what the criteria is for egilibility. Thanks."
Ken Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 3:05am ET"I'm telling you guys RATLIFF is a TOM BRADY in waiting! I watch the TAPE of RATLIFF & RATLIFF just has a natural feel for QB position. RATLIFF can feel the pocket, he makes things happen when he is the QB. RATLIFF can by himself time in the pocket when he needs too. And RATLIFF puts POINTS on the board. I am telling you guys when FAVRE retires, Mangini better have RALIFF as the QB for the QB."
Charles DiComo Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 3:13am ET"Randy, I was a little supprised that Hank Poteat was cut especially sine he did well this week. I have discussed the QB issue with many people and I was told that the Jets would never keep 4 QBs. I knew that we would keep 4 especially since Bret Ratliff has performed very well. I am completely impressed with this kid. Randy, who is has the #2 QB spot? Please advise. Thanks, Charles Go JETS!!!"
Randy Lange Said:
"Charles, Coach Mangini stated Saturday evening that nothing has changed regarding Kellen Clemens on the QB depth chart. He has unofficially been listed second on the DC and started at Philadelphia."
Ray Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 3:45am ET"Row, your 0 for 2, looks like Ware sticks with the G-men. Any other predictions you want to make. I still have time to make it to Vegas. What ever you predict, I'll take the opposite and get rich!"

Sun, August 31, 2008 - 4:08am ET"Dont know why the Jets release Poteat, they should have release Clemens."
ED Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 4:17am ET"Hey Randy ,how come the jets release Poteat and Raymond? Ratliff is way better than Clemens send Clemens out and put Ainge at ir then we get back Poteat and Raymond."
Randy Lange Said:
"ED, paraphrasing the coach, all roster decisions that Eric Mangini and his staff make give the Jets the best combination of players to help the team win."

Bucks County Jeff Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 8:46am ET"Everyone needs to relax. This is just the first step. Raymond WILL be on the practice squad. A third running back will be brought in. And we will not have 4 QB's on the active roster for very long. I like Cummings and Murrell and think they both contribute to special teams. I would like to see either or both ahead of V Ghol on the Depth Chart."
Chuck Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 8:50am ET"David Ball catches everything thrown at him. He scored against Philly, he made an absolutely unbelievable catch for the Bears last year in camp and scores over 50 touchdowns in college while breaking Jerry Rice's scoring record for 1-AA schools. Coles walks around with a bad attitude for a ton of money and he sticks, Ball plays for next to nothing and he gets sent packing. "

Drew Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 9:08am ET"My point Frank is you were very critical of Tangini (again) and prasing of the Pats (again) for how smart they were for signing Hobson. You also stated he would have a bigger year than the overpriced C Pace. To your Favre point.....you and I were both on the Clemens and then Favre bandwagon so not sure where your going here. You know I have to defend Tangini against you from time to time."
Wayne Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 9:12am ET"chatman's situation started last season when he played for the dolphins. The jets knew the situation when they signed him. They knew there was a possibilty that he would be suspended for 4 games by the nfl. He never tested positive for steroids he had a diuretic in his system which is a masking agent for possible steroid use or used for weight loss."

Sun, August 31, 2008 - 9:18am ET"Keeping 4 QB's does not fit the Mangini mold of a roster. Interchangable parts does not include 3 guys that do nothing but hold a clipboard. We really only need 2 QB's with Brad Smith on the team. Again, Ainge has to be put on IR. I thought he needed surgery on his hand. Where's Dr Andrew's??"

Sun, August 31, 2008 - 11:01am ET"KC should go and free up a RB spot. I just don't think you can get rid of Ainge or Rattliff. They have both shown the poise and talent it takes to be an NFL QB. And even though Ainge only got to play one game compared to KC it was better than any of his games. Ainge at 6'5 and Ratliff at 6'4 they both have to potential to be big time players. KC needs to go."

Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:05pm ET"They need to get rid of David Barret. The last 3 years he has done nothing but blow coverage. He is horrible. Put Justin Miller at saftey, hes big and quick or even coleman is better than Barret. Its gonna be along season with David Barret playen on defense "
Jack Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:11pm ET"Keeping the 4 QB's was a smart move we don't know how long Favre want to play for with 2 Rookie qb's who I both like very much they both done well in the preseason Clemens he did ok last season not a enough. Brad Smith is not fit to be a starting qb but he can be very good on special play call or on special team don't see him much as WR either. Hey Drew your the one who need to see Dr Andrew... "
Frank Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:12pm ET"Well said Chuck...If Clowney had not gotten hurt I would have been screaming bloody murder for Coles scalp. I also agree that Ball in the limited showing he had made a couple of nice catches including one for a TD and should be looked at further. I'd much rather have these young guys who are hungry on the team than Coles whose attitude stinks. "
Frank Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:21pm ET"It is clear as day that Mangini in settling the Coles dispute this past offseason gave him this camp off. This is the same guy who whined incessantly the last 2 years during training camp and is the same guy who is still pouting over Chad and is supposedly a leader. He should be off the team by now we don't need that negativity. OK Cedric and Drew I surrender! However, It's not over...so beware!!"
Wayne Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:30pm ET"Randy, any update on David Clowney's status? Will he be available for the season opener?"
Randy Lange Said:
"Wayne, I have no update on David Clowney. The first injury report of the season will be issued Wednesday. If we hear anything sooner, we'll let you know."
walter Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:48pm ET"Hey rob i have to agree about jones .I really have not seen any big plays from him from day one.But also why would they release poteat? i thought he was a play maker that does not make sence to me."
Big A Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:48pm ET"I agree that Jones has not impressed much in camp, but I have a sneaky suspicion that he will be fine once the season gets going. The O Line seems to have been focusing more on getting their pass blocking assignments down as opposed to run blocking. I expect that they will quickly improve under Callahan's tutorage."
Frank Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:50pm ET"If in fact Chatman was tested for a diuretic and not steroids and considering he did loose 60 lbs on this diuretic and if it was either an over the counter drug or a prescription then this suspension is outrageous. I for one am all for harsh penalties but there are plenty of goons and thugs in the NFL who have gotten off with far worse. Cheating Belichick didn't get suspended. This is insanity..."
Frank Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 12:56pm ET"...if the diuretic was on a list on banned substances and he did not test positive for any steroids then considering his circumstances he should be given the benefit of the doubt and 1 game suspension. How do pot smoking junkie thugs get 1 game suspensions? The last I looked pot is a illegal in this country. Explain that one Godell and while you are at it explain why he got 4 games."
JetDrew Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 1:07pm ET"With all the preaching Tangini does about versatility, why fill a roster spot for a fourth TE/ LS? "
MikeMc Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 1:13pm ET"MARSHALL, are you kidding me??GOODBYE!! Have faith in Tangini(except Frank) they are not done with this roster, a rb will be added along with a OT. They cannot release Clemmens or Ainge, they have value, one might be traded as the season progresses. Funny Belicheck told Hobson he was going to be a focal point of PATS "D". MIAMI had an excellent preseason, lets not take them for granted."
MikeMc Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 1:28pm ET"Rob , don't be scared. T. Jones is a bruising, strong ,durable running back that doesn't fumble. His lack of production was in part due to no running lanes, I fully expect his yard per carry to be close to 4 this year. Jones' between the tackles style wears down defenses and opens opportunities for Leon outside, and our WR's down the field. You'll be happy w/ Jones, Chicago was, ask any Bear fan."
Hogan Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 1:39pm ET"Glad Poteat is gone, never liked him. Think we should have kept Posiac insted of Angie. Think they just wanted to justify draft pick. I don't care what anyone says I like Barret, hope he transitions well. Hope Raymond stays on PS, the 1 practice I made it to He was everywhere."
Hogan Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 1:42pm ET"Oh yea, and I am very exited Henry made it. This kid is going to become a steal for us. Tip for him...LISTEN TO AND WATCH MY MAN COTCH."
Hogan Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 2:01pm ET"To clarrify, Raymond did not get cut for any reason but #'s. He is very good but so are the other 7 and he has the best chance of clearing waivers. Angie needs to go. Cant belive some of u say he should be # 3. We do not need anymore mediocre QB's. AGain about the Chatman thing, GROW UP."
Drew Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 2:17pm ET"For all the maniacs screaming about roids and Chatman need to understand he was just a fat guy looking to shed some lbs.....not gain muscle to have an advantage over anyone. Jesse should try reading the label before taking this stuff. I agree w/ Frank though. Guys who take clear anabolic steriods or HGH get the same as Chatman who is looking to shed his spare tire?? "
Theo Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 2:18pm ET"Raymond and Ball were both good, and they probable should have kept at least one young back-up tackle like Bender or Garner. I would have liked to see KC gone but oh, well. Now they need to focus on the backs. 2 RB's and JC is on roids? Not Good. I don't know if Rudi Johnson is the guy, but I beleive they could still find an adequate player out there. I like Marcel Shipp!!"
MikeMc Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 2:55pm ET"RANDY, just noticed most of your comments are in the wee hours of the A.M., are you just a dedicated, jet addicted early rising insomniac or are you partying all night & posting before crashing? They say its a fine line between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Either way THANKS !!!"
Randy Lange Said:
"MikeMc, I've been known to do both. The Radar, like a newborn, needs constant monitoring."
Ray Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 3:19pm ET"I think that Daren Heerspink that miami just cut might have some potential... wink wink, nudge nudge. Let's bring him in for oh, a week, and see if he might be able to help us out !!"
Ray Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 3:30pm ET"Even if they don't sign someone cut by another team, since Chatman doesn't count against the 53, by week five we will have one more cut. That gives these guys some real game action to prove themselves. Can't wait for Sept. 7!! Gotta believe they held back on their game planning until they knew who was and wasn't gonna be here. Now throw all that vanilla stuff out!!!"
Steve Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 4:01pm ET"I like the roster selections. The Jet's management has made good decisions all around. The receiver core is strong and they now have a mix of young quarterbacks with potential. Lowery and Carroll will help in the secondary. Add in the off season aquisitions and 2 first round picks and the Jets go into Miami with a strong roster. They will need to improve the defense, but this will happen next year"
Row Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 6:11pm ET"The G men are not going to keep 6 RB's on their roster, Ray. I like most of the cuts, although a TE cut or Wallace Wright would make more sense. Ainge needs the IR. I'd like to see an Albert Young (college guy who played for Iowa) or (hate to say it) Cedric Benson if he is still available. We could always cut them week 5. Poteat was a HUGE surprise also that Barrett was kept. "
Jake Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 6:32pm ET"Did the jets announce the practice squad yet?"
Randy Lange Said:
"No, Jake, I expect the practice squad to be announced Monday."
JP Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 7:23pm ET"Fair set of cuts. Would have liked to see Ball make the team. RB, we will be fine, IRA is correct that Brad Smith can see time back there as well. I say TJ and Leon are going to be enough. Time to get ready for Miami and show the world that we are for real - Go JETS!"
Russ Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 7:26pm ET"I like these moves. The Jets look like the have beefed up and gotten a little bit younger. I can't wait until next Sunday!!!!"

Sun, August 31, 2008 - 7:31pm ET"Hi, Randy: Am getting used to the way you guys do thingsin the Big Apple compared to "fly-over" country in Green Bay where I'm from...like short posts!! Gawd, NO. MT didn't keep A.Carroll. He's a dwarf and has a history of excessive hands-on flags. Coach say s "he's getting better". GB coach Sherman said that for 3 YEARS. He dosn't have 4 yrs exp. Its 1 yr 3 TIMES OVER. SHIP HIM, PLEASE!!"
bob h Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 9:09pm ET"would have like to see rookie Raymond make at least practice squad. Looked good in pre-season. Surprised also about Poteat, Worrell and Garner. I guess they need to drop some salaries. Wish Ratliff had more NFL experience to see Clemens get cut. WHAT A HOLD UP OF A ROSTER POSITION> "
JBL Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 9:41pm ET"Big mistake in cutting David Ball...the guy has great hands and leaping ability...Not to mention a class act on and off the field which is a rarity today for pro football players."
Bucks County Jeff Said:
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 10:55pm ET"I love the Carroll signing. Here is a guy with all of the tools. He obviously made a ton of mistakes in Green Bay and played himself out of the league. But he knows that this is his last chance and I am sure he will give 100% on every play, because he wants to stay in the league. Not to mention, Mangini's strength is coaching the secondary, he knows that he found something special with Carroll."
John In Dutchess Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 12:06am ET" I really like the personel upgrades this team has made. With Farve, Feneca, Mangold Da Brick, on the front line this offense will be creating in ways not seen since the Jets beat the Colts in the Superbowl. That is what I can't wait to see! Simply the most exciting offense to "watch and see". As a 30 year Jets fan... I can not remember a more optimistic September! LET THE SEASON ROCK!!!!!"
John In Dutchess Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 12:10am ET"AS A DIE HARD 3O YEAR JETS FAN...WHO HAS STUCK WITH THEM THROUGH THICK AND THIN.... I CAN NOT RECALL A BETTER WELL ROUNDED TEAM LIKE THIS ONE. LOOK FOR AMAZING THINGS ON OFFENSE TO UNFOLD AND THIS DEFENSE IS AS GOOD AS ANY TEAM IN ALL OF THE NFL....SOME MIGHT THINK ITS TOO SOON BUT I BELIEVE THIS TEAM HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO GET TO THE BIG GAME IN JANUARY AND I M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT THE PLAYOFFS!!"
Ray Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 2:17am ET"Well, we agree on that Row. I really thought we should keep Caulcrick because with his size and speed he would be able to play both FB or RB if needed. Right now we are a little thin back there."
Ken Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 2:31am ET"I can't believe MANGINI said that CLEMENS is still the #2 QB. This is the problem I have with Mangini. Mangini always said the BEST players will play. But I get the feeling that Mangini feels responsible for CLEMENS somehow. Considering how GREAT RETLIFF looked at QB, how in the WORLD can Mangini STILL make CLEMENS #2 QB? Mangini puts MORE stock in how a player looks in practice than the game."
Ken Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 2:51am ET"Ainge should have been waived. Nobody is going to sign Ainge when he was so lowly rated in the draft."

Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:11am ET"HELP!. . . . just moved to niles, ohio (transfered to gm- lordstown), still have my sunday ticket at "home" in baltimore, but where can i find the JETS here in ohio. . . talk to me at soberslugger@aol"
CEDRIC Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 11:59am ET"Frank good post for all the posters who like to post before hey do homework, 4 game Chatman suspension, ridiculous, Robert Kraft must have Goodell on the payroll for giving his team light punishments for ruining the integrity of the game by cheating and then for drug use. Chatman takes a substance then Goodell goes crazy...that kinda suspect"
Ray Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 1:30pm ET"Hell yeah there's something fishy going on there! Goodell says he gave the harshest penalty allowed by fining him $500,000. That's just money, why didn't they take the #7 pick instead of the #32? And then as Frank said, no suspension. And let's not forget, there were several complaints by other teams before the Jets busted them. The NFL Shield was definitely protecting Bill and the Pats."
MikeMc Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 1:58pm ET"Lets not cry over spilled milk now, we have Miami in 6 days, then we get our revenge on the Pats if we're up to the challenge. Keep it positive boys."
Viveca Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 2:28pm ET"The jets cuts make sense, except for Pociask. He is a good blocker with decent hands who can play both fb and te. Franks should have been let go instead, but maybe his familiarity with Farve helped? OT needs back up help. Clemens is young has a strong arm and some game experience. He should have some trade value! Stuckey will be counted as cb. Let's keep all of our recievers if we can."
Wayne Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 9:43pm ET"Kevin Faulk get only a one game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, but Jesse Chatman got a four game suspension for having a diuretic in his system. According to the league marijuana use is not as bad as using a diuretic."
Alan Said:
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 9:57pm ET"Everyone who thinks ratliff is better then clemens, ratliff was playing against 3rd team defences, and jets got 3rd team wr's who can play with 1st team defenses"
Ray Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:36am ET"Ken you really need to chill on the qb thing. Whose #2 coming out of training camp isn't an earth shattering decision. He apparently went with the guy with the most REAL game (the stuff you like) experience over the guy who lit up all the backups and the other 95% who'll never see an NFL roster. It's not like he cut the guy. Next year when Favre doesn't come back he can fight it out with KC."
Frey Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 9:53am ET"Clemens is a solid all around QB. Not fantastic by any means but bordering the line of being a solid qb"
BILL Said:
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 10:58am ET"CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY GARNER AND BENDER BOTH GET CUT AND NOT PUT ON THE TAXI SQUAD. WE HAVE NO BACKUP WITH SIZE FOR RIGHT TACKLE."
Ken Said:
Fri, September 5, 2008 - 2:04pm ET"RAY I am excited about RATLIFF because their are very few times u know something for certain. But you do know for certain FAVRE will probably only play a MAX of 3 more yrs. RATLIFF poise reminds be of a BRADY in waiting. CLEMENS has had way more reps and NFL real game snaps than RATLIFF & because of that Clemens should be performing BETTER than RATLIFF, but Clemens isn't . That's a FACT! "
