File Under: NFL Europa, Matt McChesney, Zarnell Fitch, World Bowl XV, Frankfurt Galaxy

06/25 — Wrapping up our Green & White-flavored NFL Europa coverage, we'd like to note that the two Jets participating in World Bowl XV stood tall in defeat as starters for the Frankfurt Galaxy, which dropped a 37-28 decision to the Hamburg Sea Devils on Saturday.

DT Zarnell Fitch, who'd been rotating as a starter with Remi Ayodele all season, got the nod in the big game and came up with a nice line: five solo tackles, including two tackles for loss/no gain and a fairly important sack at the time.

The sack — Fitch's first of his 11-game Europa season — came on third-and-goal at the Frankfurt 5 midway through the third quarter. He dropped Casey Bramlet, ultimately named the game's Most Valuable Player, for zero yards, forcing Hamburg to settle for a 23-yard field goal. But Shane Andrus missed the chip shot and the Galaxy still trailed by 23-21.

Also for Frankfurt, All-NFLE selection Matt McChesney returned to the front lines at right guard and helped the Galaxy amass 360 yards in the title game. Only problem: The Sea Devils gained 428.

"The NFL will shut down the NFLE because of increasing costs. I think its more about them trying to market the regular season NFL games overseas instead. I think its a big mistake and not fair to the clubs who have to alter their schedules during the season to go play overseas. No need for this."

"Hey Randy what kind of shot does Fitch have to play this year? From what it sounds like the kid is pretty good. He has the size but was this just a good game or can he be this consistent on the next level?"
