File Under: preseason games, Jim Zorn, Cleveland Washington Giants Eagles

05/07 — The schedule process is complete with the NFL announcing on Tuesday the final dates and kickoff times for virtually all of the 65 preseason games.

For Jets fans, there are no big surprises. They will get their summer slate started by rocking and rolling at Cleveland in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Aug. 7. Then come their two home preseason games, against Washington and new head coach Jim Zorn and against the Super Bowl champion Giants.

Perhaps it means nothing, but when Zorn was Seattle’s starting quarterback, the Jets were 0-6 vs. the Seahawks from 1977-83.

The only thing worth noting is the early 6:30 p.m. start time for the finale at Philly, which is likely to give head coach Eric Mangini and his staff a quicker than usual head start on finalizing the final cut to 53 players. In the seven previous Jets-Eagles final preseason games from 2001-07, the start times were either 7 or 7:30.

It’s not much, but it’s something.

Here’s the Jets’ firmed-up preseason schedule along with their all-time preseason record against each opponent:

 Date Opponent Time Jets' Rec.
 Thursday, Aug. 7 at Cleveland 7:30 p.m. 1-0
 Saturday, Aug. 16 vs. WASHINGTON 7 p.m. 4-3
 Saturday, Aug. 23 vs. GIANTS 7 p.m. 20-18-1
 Thursday, Aug. 28 at Philadelphia 6:30 p.m. 18-11

"How can so many people rule out KC based on his performance last year? Didn't aybody learn from Eli and Brees? I am not saying KC is the man, but nobody can say he isn't based on what you all saw. Conversely, anybody that has ever played a down of organized football in their life can see that Chad can't throw hard and he keeps getting his WR's killed. "

"I asked this a while back, but Randy, how did CP's YAC compare with the rest of the league. Without any research, I would assume he is at the bottom of the list as he can't hit receivers in stride due to his slow floating ball. The receivers stop, wait, catch, and get hit really hard. I still think CP is worth his salary to tudor the young guys as he is still one of the best leaders in the game."

"Keller will not be the starting TE as he wasn't drafted to be the starting TE. He will line up as an H-back or in the slot to create match up problems along with Baker or Franks. You're right Row, we didn't see many double TE sets last year and we didn't even dress our FB although our O-line was awful. I hope Mangini learned from this as he did pick up a FB and 2 TE's. Dare to dream."
