File Under: Eric Mangini, Woody Johnson, rookie minicamp, Vernon Gholston, Dustin Keller

05/01 — Just to let you know we haven't forgotten that we have a rookie minicamp upon us, I can report to you that the rookies — six draft choices headed by first-rounders Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller, 10 undrafted free agents and an unspecified number of tryouts — have been filtering into Weeb Ewbank Hall during the day today. The newest members of the Green & White have a team meeting with head coach Eric Mangini tonight.

And beginning Friday, they practice as pros.

The schedule for the media provides midday access to the new players both Friday and Saturday. Portions of practice will be open to reporters Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Jets owner Woody Johnson is expected to attend the Friday session and to be available for reporters.

Mangini will have two news conferences, both available live on newyorkjets.com and then archived on our site's multimedia home. The first is Friday at 4:30 p.m. and the second is Saturday at noon.

There is no media availability Sunday and after that day's activities the players will return to their homes and their colleges until many return in June.

The team still has not released the list of its undrafted free agents and tryout invitees, but we will have an avalanche of information for you beginning Friday with the names, stories on the FAs broken down into offense and defense, plus features and Radar entries over the next two days from me and Eric Allen.

As the TV anchors always say, even though it's not true, we'll see you tomorrow.

"Hey Dr. Scott, Please don't jump on Manginus. He is really doing a pretty good job, Both He and Mr T. have had three really good drafts, (Three more that the previous regime)They've bought in D-Brick, Mangold,Washington,B smith,Harris and Revis, and this year Gholston and Keller. He is 14 and 16 in really two years of remolding this roster with good players who fit his system. At least "

"If you don't give Mangini several years to develop his vision we will be back to square -1. He inhertited a 4-3 team made a run, tried to be competitive last year , he wasn't , now your seeing more of a overhaul, but the scheme hasn't changed. You can do alot of damage from the 3-4 and we will be better in the long run but we must lock up Mangini for 5 years not hot seat here ever again."

"Randy, I cant get an answer anywhere. I used to attend the JETS/GIANTS scrimmages in Albany NY during the summer. Does that take place anymore? What a great day: Watch the offense, they break & we go to the CROSSGATES mall for lunch & then head back to catch the Defense - Also able to get some autographs..."

"Rick, I haven't seen this summer's training camp schedule, but Eric Mangini has held a Green & White Game instead, at the Meadowlands in 2006 and at Fordham last year. The only times the Jets and Giants scrimmaged at Albany were during the 2004 and '05 camps."
