File Under: 2008 NFL Draft, Day Two, Gholston Keller

04/27 — We’re about a half an hour out from the commencement of Day Two of the 2008 NFL Draft. The Jets, who selected Ohio State DE Vernon Gholston (No. 6 overall) and Purdue TE Dustin Keller (No. 30 overall) on Day One, could be in for a little wait before they pick again.

Miami will kick off this morning’s festivities with the first selection of the second round — No. 64 overall. The Jets won’t be on the clock again until the fourth round some 38 selections later. They also own picks in the sixth round, No. 171, and seventh round, No. 111.

The Green & White sent their third and fifth round choices to Carolina in exchange for NT Kris Jenkins, so consider that part of the package when you’re making your final grades.

"I think the jets have found a diamond in the rough by taking Division II - NCAA All-Time Rushing Leader Danny Woodhead. This guy will be the new Dave Meggett. I feel sorry for all those teams that passed on him! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!"

"I still feel Keller was a reach, why didn't we get Martin Rucker in the third and keep our other picks? He is a better TE anyway. This draft made no sense. We drafted a corner that might be okay on special teams, and a WR that probably won't make the team. I really feel Mangini blew it this time. I don't mind the Gholston pick, but he doesn't really fit our system. I expected us to get Vernon."

"When are we going to hear about the rookie free agents. I hear the Jets signed a tough back that went to Michigan State and started his football career at a small rural D school in Clymer, NY. Sounds like an interesting story. Maybe EA could tell us a little more about him and his chances of making the roster."
