File Under: NFL Europa, Thompson mcchesney Fitch costanzo 6-3

06/12 — Two Jets could be playing in World Bowl XV in two weeks. And if the reporting of ESPN's John Clayton is on the money, after that NFL Europa will get whacked as surely as Tony Soprano did on Sunday night. (Didn't he?)

Clayton writes that "the word going around in NFL circles" is that the league's sponsorship of Europa is about at an end. "My guess is the NFL is probably going to pull the plug," he says.

If that's true, then G Matt McChesney and DT Zarnell Fitch may get the chance to play in the last World Bowl ever. But first their Frankfurt Galaxy team has to come to grips with the gravity of its situation.

The Galaxy's 36-31 loss to Hamburg on Saturday coupled with Cologne's 31-13 win over Amsterdam created the first one-week-to-play three-way tie atop the Europa standings. Frankfurt, Hamburg and Cologne are all tied at 6-3.

Fitch keeps contributing in his rotation role with Remi Ayodele, recording three solo tackles, one for a loss, and applying one QB hit. McChesney didn't start but did play for the second straight game on a painful ankle, which had him listed as doubtful for the Sea Devils.

The other two Jets in Europe are still tackling their jobs with gusto. S Jamie Thompson had seven tackles in Amsterdam's loss and still leads the Admirals with 52 tackles.

And LB Blake Costanzo continued to start and make plays in the Rhein Fire's 24-17 win over the Berlin Thunder. Costanzo had four tackles and also batted down two passes.

"Randy, Fitch continues to make plays in every report you write. Will be real interesting to see how he does at camp. Do you think he will give Mosley some competition for the #3 DT spot? Thompson continues to impress. "

"G Matt McChesney played defense last year right? "

Randy Lange Said:

"Drew, McChesney was a D-lineman last season who came back to the practice squad and began to learn guard. He started the first seven games at RG for the Galaxy."

"How bad is McChesneys ankle? He could add depth to the Kendall "hole"."
