02/04 — Woody Johnson, chairman and CEO of the New York Jets, issued this statement late Sunday night following the New York Giants' 17-14 triumph over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII at University of Phoenix Stadium.

"On behalf of the New York Jets organization I would like to congratulate the Mara and Tisch families, Coach Coughlin and the entire New York Giants organization," Johnson said in his statement. "They played with tremendous heart and determination, earning a hard-fought and well-deserved victory in Super Bowl XLII.

"I also want to congratulate the Kraft family, Coach Belichick and the New England Patriots. Tonight's loss in no way diminishes the remarkable success they achieved in this historic season."

"This will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest football games ever played in the NFL. The O-Line play was the difference and Manning came of age. Woody learn something from this. The Giants have always been consistant in their approach on personel in putting a premium on the O-Line and their running game something that is missing in the Jets culture. Little Bill again classless in the end."

"Im 31 yrs old and my super bowl memories go back to S.F Cinci in 81,ive been a Jet fan since that time, last night was the first super bowl that i was full heartdly rooting for someone (well someone to lose more than win)The pats getting knocked off could only be topped with a jets superbowl ,It was just nice to be able to get into the biggest NFL game of the year......Thanks Giants"

"I have been a jet season ticket holder since 1968 and yes I was at supe 111 It never amazes me how the jet organization always praise othe franchises. I remember back when the Jet -Giants game Jim Kensil had the Jet Logo in one end-zone and the Giants logo in the other. IT WAS A JET HOME GAME. I know the new stadium is supposed to be 50-50. NO WAY You will see."

"I, Matthew McSpedon of somewhat sound mind and body, officially resignate my position as a New York Jet season ticket holder. I will remain a staunch and avid fan of the Gang Green from afar. I have estimated that roughly $18,000 dollars has been spent over the last 13 years on tickets and stadium related expenditures. I can no longer financially support the losing culture. I feel like my money was misallocated on a new time piece for Dick Curl and his clock management scheme. The ROI has been minimal to say the least. In addition I cannot continue to jeopardize my mental well being, and my family time 8 Sunday's annually. I look upon the Giants fans, Steeler fans, and Cowboy fans with great envy as they continuously reach the top of the NFL mountain. We as Jet fans however, are looked at as toddlers in the NFL world. Our playoff appearances are not unlike a child's first step. We are greeted with an "awwwww isn't that nice" by the other franchises. It will not cease, until a fearless leader who accepts no excuses, and applauds accountability is inserted at the helm. Tangini, will now look at April's entry draft and select the 3 year captain and road scholar. They refuse to recognize that athletic ability does account for something. If and when they ever do reach the NFL's penultimate contest, I will gather my accrued savings based on not attending lost season after lost season, and be present at the final destination with great vigor and alcohol tolerance. It is a very difficult day for me, and I am deeply saddened to make this decision. I will miss the friendship and playful banter of our tailgates, I just want all of you out there to know, that I love all of you and have given my best to this franchise over the years, I hope my steadfast dedication has been noted and appreciated, for I will still continue to invest myself emotionally 16 weeks a year, after all that is the duration of 95% of Jet season's past. There was so many bad calls against the Patriots and illegal blows to the head by Giant players that I believe this game was rigged. All game long they kept the cameras on Payton Manning. For those who keep talking statistics they are meaningless it's about W's and Clemens with his arm and mobility won more than Pennington. Statistics are for losers."

"It is a sad and miserable day in Jet-ville. I was born in 1978, season ticket holder since 1999, have seen the Giants make the Super Bowl 4 times, and win three. All I have is history to speak of. I cannot think of anybody they drafted that made any impact since the mid 80's. Especially in the QB position. All left footed and the latteral movement of a train. Pennington is no miracle worker as his health and W/L Record show. And HERM EDWARDS who had one of the BEST coaching PERCENTAGES of ANY jets coach, Edwards even had a better winning pecent than BILL PARCELL. But he gets fired for the last year as coach of the Jets, because almost the (ENTIRE) team had injures. Typical JETS and fan logic!"
