File Under: Eric Mangini, Tony Soprano, Julie
06/03 — In case you missed it, a new godfather dropped in for a cameo on HBO's next-to-last Sopranos episode Sunday night. Eric Mangini and wife Julie made brief dinner appearances at Nuovo Vesuvio midway through the episode, right before Tony tells Carm about a major development in his therapy (photo courtesy of Craig Blankenhorn/HBO).
"Know who's in tonight?" Artie Bucco tells Tony. " 'Mangenius'."
"The Jets' coach, sweetie," Tony tells his smiling but quizzical wife. "I should go say hello."
Maybe Eric was able to get some advice on the Jets' eventual move to Jersey — Florham Park isn't far from T's neck of the woods in North Caldwell.
And Tony could have passed on some help from the coach's Core Jet Values. Let's see ...
Do your job first and trust they guy next to you is doing his job. Didn't work too well for Bobby.
Communication. There's that hit on Phil.
Focus. A.J. and Meadow have their separate issues here.
Finish. Well, we know Tony's and Phil's boys have no problems in this area.
On the other hand, if seven years with Dr. Melfi didn't really help Tony, even seven minutes of tableside chitchat with Eric isn't likely to help.
