File Under: Eric Mangini, Tony Soprano, Julie

06/03 — In case you missed it, a new godfather dropped in for a cameo on HBO's next-to-last Sopranos episode Sunday night. Eric Mangini and wife Julie made brief dinner appearances at Nuovo Vesuvio midway through the episode, right before Tony tells Carm about a major development in his therapy (photo courtesy of Craig Blankenhorn/HBO).

"Know who's in tonight?" Artie Bucco tells Tony. " 'Mangenius'."

"The Jets' coach, sweetie," Tony tells his smiling but quizzical wife. "I should go say hello."

Focus. A.J. and Meadow have their separate issues here.

Finish. Well, we know Tony's and Phil's boys have no problems in this area.

"I've been trying to get on the Sopranos for years! I had one audition, but didn't get it. Coach Mangini is here a year and bingo, he gets on! Good for him and the Jets though. It was fun seeing him on the show, even though it was brief. Keep up the good work. Go Jets!"

"Just about when Tony is going to get killed next week Pennington is going drill the killer in the head with a football, but because of his lack of arm strength the ball will bounce away and Mangini will save the day and take over the family."
