File Under: Darrelle Revis, Thomas Jones, Kellen Clemens, Terrell Owens, Nick Folk

11/22 — The Cowboys' drive finally stalls at the Jets 9, but in this situation, that's not a good thing. The home team just ran 14 plays covering 71 yards and taking 8:23 off the clock en route to Nick Folk's second FG of the game.

Cowboys 27, Jets 3

Kellen Clemens has gone 0-for-his-last-10 passes, but only one of three incompletions on this drive were his fault — an overthrow of Jerricho Cotchery breaking free down the deep middle. Chris Baker couldn't hold the next one with pressure from S Roy Williams and Justin McCareins couldn't keep the handle on a tough but catchable ball along the left sideline. Punt again.

Six three-and-outs. The last time the Jets did that, it was also a holiday. Last Christmas night, they survived that soggy offense in Miami to rock the Dolphins. Today's holiday fare has not been as exciting for the Green & White.

One more ill-fated Cowpokes drive, this time also 71 yards but on seven plays. One of the plays, the Jets appear to have Romo sacked, only to see him try to unload the ball, have the pass bounce off pursuer Matt Chatham — and right into the hands of Marion Barber, who takes the pass 12 yards for yet another first down.

Then comes what the Texas Stadium faithful have been waiting for. Darrelle Revis had been doing a decent job on Terrell Owens, holding him to 43 yards on his first five catches. But No. 6 is the crusher, as Romo loads up and hits T.O., who has slipped behind Revis to grab the ball just inside the left pylon for the Cowboys' fourth TD.

Cowboys 34, Jets 3

This is the first blowout loss for the Jets since the opener vs. New England, and even that one was competitive at the half.

The Jets come back down the field, too little too late, on a 31-yard Clemens-to-Cotchery completion. They try to get Thomas Jones his first TD as a Jet on second-and-goal from the 2, but as usual when TJ gets the handoff down there, the opponents throw up an impenetrable force field, and such is the case again as Jones loses 3 yards.

Then an overthrown fade to Baker, then a catch by Baker but he has to come out of the end zone to gather it in and the officials mark it as loss of downs at the Cowboys 1. No challenge from Eric Mangini, and ref Bill Carollo probably wouldn't have found visual evidence to overturn anyway.

With two minutes left, the Cowboys are second-and-9 at their 13. The Jets have three timeouts. There's time for a face-saving final drive, but only if the defense comes up with a stop. They do but Mat McBriar's punt is short of Leon Washington and rolls dead at the Jets 37 with 20 seconds left.

The last play of the game is an inside handoff to Leon Washington, and the visitors let the clock run out. Pittsburgh didn't last long enough, and now Dallas will linger for the 2-9 Jets until they fly to Miami a week from Sunday to take on the Dolphins, who will be either 1-10 or 0-11 after their Monday night game at Pittsburgh.

The Texas Stadium visitors locker room beckons. I'll get back to you as soon as I can, hopefully before we take off from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

"Maybe it is time to see what Brad Smith can do at QB since neither Chad or Kellen can take the reigns on the bleeding side of this Jets offense... Maybe a mobile QB is what the doctor is ordering to stop a miserable season from getting any uglier... With Coles mostly injured this season time to see what the other Jets can do to up lift this horrible season....."

"Revis, Rhodes, Harris sparking a glimmer of hope with the lack luster 3-4 defense that cant bring pressure from the D-lineman are the only players that deserve any recognition at this point in the season... Robertson ups and downs with Ellis being aggressive at the wrong times this team is in reverse of last years miracle season....."

"All the criticism does nothing and means even less, yes the season is lost so get over it ! the jets were simply out played by a team thats probably going to the superbowl to face the Pats. No QB could have done better against that pass rush, and the D was spread out against too many weapons and a QB thats in sync with them, none the less the D played well, considering the short week.
